You're wrong - it's not my thing, I stated so vehemently. I didn't say "And anybody who does so is a fool." I know that many do it that way, their understanding of, and expectations from, relationships, D/s, M/s, or otherwise, no doubt vary from mine in many ways.

It would be one thing if I had said, "And anybody who does is an idiot."

But I think some folks are being a bit too sensitive here.

(And it's not me.) ;)

Here I was thinking I was defending some poor bastard who was being maligned, and it turns out I was being a gallant knight protecting a damsel in distress! The greatest service is the one we know not that we perform--or something. A famous person once said something like that in more elegant English...but I forget.

5)Do you have a sense of humor?
Oh this is crap... I can't even take myself seriously as I write these, lol.
No forms for me Islave! Chemistry is such a tricky thing, no form could ever predict what kind of man would make me want to take him and own him.. M

Ya know, I read this the same way as TD&W.. and since the arguement got on for so long and lost sight of the original posting.. well.. my arguement is this.. isn't every bit of this online fluff an "application form"? We fill out profiles (in form form), answer form questions, and even click on form checklists all to make a profile. Heck, you fill out a form just to make an account in order to access the other forms.

I'm not trying to stir up more arguement, just explain one possibility for how the above quote can be taken as closed-mindedness. Admittedly, we're all different, so what one sees one way, another will see another way. And we all know how arguing about opinions gets. Futile.

As for an answer to the topic.. Favorite colors, drinks (alcoholic and non), and just how much net worth they have. Humm.. the prospect of a "sugar slave".. or maybe.. "sugar daughter" hehe..

Pulling Em's quote from Raphael's response. Actually I have had boys ask Me for an application and then I have to explain that their letter of introduction is their intitial application. But I cover alot of this ground by asking for this very similar information in My profile. Most of the boys can't seem to figure that out. If I can get something reasonable to begin, then further email correspondence covers most of the areas Em mentions along with other important aspects. Important to Me, that is.
If we ever get that far, then I can proceed to the telephone.

You two are always at it? Have ya noticed? High time you start ignoring each other until you feel up to hugging. As for Apps.. well hmmmm i like it. Never filled out one myself (other then as Akinta said profiles) but i kind of like it. It can take an unearthy amount of time finding out all the "little" details about a person. It gives a good general idea of a person, but i dont agree with just "submitting" it. App filled out and the TWO people sit down, dicuss and go over it. Some of the questions you'd put on an App arent ones you'd generally ask another. Just a different, easier, more direct and too the point way of "discovering" who you're talking too. And no i dont mean like soley a D/s App either. Just a general thingimajig. For example (yes a personal one cos i'm SO good at those).. Most people never really catch on that i NEVER take ice in any of my drinks, or why. Little idiocincries (SP?!!) like that. But of course talked over.

And as a sub i'd have about a 300 questionaire for a Dom, or something there round abouts.

A sensible reply. I nearly feinted

One thing I have noticed throughout my life.

Many times I and others I know have attended a meeting with the intention of asking certain questions.

In the discussions at the meetings the questions get forgotten so maybe an application form for slaves is not such a bad idea.

It is, however, correct that the application should not be sent in but discussed at a meeting.

This opens the possibility of an application form for the masters from the potential slaves.

The other advantage would be that a timid slave would have the opportunity to get their questions answered[8|]

Im not opposed to the idea. But hopefully, the questions are creative and thought inspiring. Im a very detail oriented person, and I like to find out all the minute insignificant details about people. People are so complicated, there is no way you can run out of new things to discover about eachother. An application form, hopefully, might just add a few pieces to the puzzle. And isnt dating really like going to a job interview anyway? Is a dating application really that far off?

My problem with this is that it seems to operate on the theory that it is a one-way street. I read your profile, and it is a good one in that it is very clear what you seek and what you expect - it's one of the better ones I have read.

Yet, unless one is looking for a one night stand, there is a relationship formed, even if its base is of a D/s nature. As such it is important for both people to share (and receive as to the other) information about themselves.

Application makes it sound almost as if, "I'll choose one of you based on your words, but it should make no difference to you who I am." and that any sub "accepted" should be thrilled, overjoyed, to "get the job" no matter who/what the Dom/me is.

I just can't buy that - not for a relationship where its very essence is complementary in nature.

Believe it or not, some dominants do not negotiate. Some dominants tell you that this is the way things are going to be. You have a choice to get involved with that person...or walk away. I can think of quite a few relationships that operate on a one way street.

Again, this exchange of information about each other may be exactly the way to do things in the relationships you choose to get involved in. There are dominants that simply want to know if you have any medical issues they should know about. They don't want to know who you were...but rather shape you into what you will be.

And that's the great thing! You don't have to buy it. You don't have to fill out an application, talk to anyone, or get involved with someone that you don't want to get involved with. But, as you make the choice to be with a dominant that suits you, there are others that will happily serve someone who is not interested in a free-flow of communication....and would rather keep things on a one way street.
