hsagnev -> Who as sold their toys only to buy more? (8/18/2007 9:55:24 PM)

As the years pass and as I go through various phases for numerous reasons I have sold off my toys partly because I wasn't using them and partly because I wanted to clean up the closet.  However, the one constant with me is that I tend to return to my old ways eventually no matter how long of a break I may take from BDSM related activities.  So my question for everyone is have you sold off your toys at some point only to purchase replacements at a later time?

I know about 6 people who did the whole "My life sucks, I'm leaving the scene forever" deal and sold off everything...only to come back between 6 months and two years later and start over again.

One person had done that three times.  Paragons of stability they were.

In frustration at one point many years ago, I threw out My toys....*wails in pain* NEVER NEVER NEVER throw them away....put them in storage until the phase passes.

The only toys I've ever sold were toys which I specifically made to sell. I've given several away though but they always went to a good home (and I had duplicates!) and I knew they'd be well used.

I do think it's important that people make arrangements for their toys in case of emergency unless they want to shock poor old Auntie Martha when she cleans out the closets after that dreadful Xing accident. [8D]

I've thrown some things away, then later SO wished I hadn't.  Mind you, there's a few toys my Dom likes that I'd LOVE to throw away, but I don't dare!

EGGZACKLY!

I "turn" on my toys between relationships.  Their lack of use and purpose becomes a source of frustration and where I have thrown them out in the past, they're now securely packed away at the back of the shed  where I can't just bump into them on a regular basis - out of sight, out of mind.

Leather cuffs are an exception.  I always get a new set specifically for a new sub in my life and if we break up, she keeps them if she wants otherwise I'll toss them.  I have a couple of "everyday" sets for starting out or occasional casual play etc, but I prefer cuffs as a personalised item specific to an individual sub.  A new relationship makes them the first thing on the shopping list.

I don't need to sell My toys to replace them.. I have a bad habit of losing them... so there is a trail of My "lost" toys spanning the entire length of the Eastern seaboard.

Speaking of which.. whoever has My handcuffs, I would really like them back... those were made special for Me (by a friend at the Smith & Wesson plant)... lol

A friend told me that his wife and sub desided that they were no longer in the lifestyle and threw away alll of his toys.

I have not thrown out or sold any of my toys except a few things that I made to sell. I have been in the lifestyle but about a year and a half so my toys have not aged enough to start tossing.

am i the only one that imagined someone buying used floggers and dildos and visably shuddered and had to swallow a little vomit?

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Who as sold their toys only to buy more? (8/19/2007 1:45:44 PM)

No, but I'm certainly ok with it myself, depending on the material of the sex toy.

MistressDoMe -> RE: Who as sold their toys only to buy more? (8/19/2007 1:52:23 PM)

Many of my toys, I would not use on a new person.
I like personalized items, often picked out together.

But the ones I will keep, I just clean and tuck away.

No, you aren't the only one. It's gross.  It's like a dominant who takes pictures of his toys, thinking a sub would actually want toys used on her that had been somewhere else.  yeck.

MistressDoMe -> RE: Who as sold their toys only to buy more? (8/19/2007 2:22:00 PM)

I am glad someone else feels that new submissive = new toys.

LATEXBABY64 -> RE: Who as sold their toys only to buy more? (8/19/2007 2:56:41 PM)

well yes i mean with certain latex items you would not want to do that with lol

To me, that would be like selling my tools. That is just not going to happen.

I have on few occasions given toys to good homes and lost a few.  Otherwise I cannot have enough of  them. Have even skipped meal to be able to spend on toys.

Just remember: The one who has the most toys when he dies wins!
