I have a dear friend in Belize, someone I care about alot- please keep in prayer all the people there as well as Jamaaica and others who will feel the impact of this hurricane heading their way. I never experienced such a storm but I'm sure it's going to cause alot of damage. thanks.

Every time one of these hurricanes come up, I think back to 2004 when three of them ran over our house and area in just six short weeks: Charlie, Frances, and Jeanne. All category 2 storms. Nowhere near the devastation of an Andrew, Katrina, or the approaching Dean, but there's still plenty of houses around here with the blue tarps on them along with other damage never repaired from those storms.

I always hope and pray that people learn from the past and prepare themselves for what lies ahead when these storms approach. That's all any of us can do until the storm passes and the clean-up begins.

I am always amazed at the strength of people and the unity after such storms...I guess we never truly know our inner strength until something tragic happens.

And it's a damn shame that it takes a tragedy for the real humanity to show up. *sighs*

I sometimes wonder that myself..why does it take a tragedy to bring people together? Like with 9/11...everyone got together because of that tragedy but where were all the people when they walk past the homeless and runaways...makes you wonder.
