"Awakenings" with Robert DeNiro and Robin Williams. Could a movie make me cry more than this? I doubt it. "The Fly" with Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis - I just lose it when Goldblum begs Davis not to abort his baby. "Phantom of the Opera" (any well done play or movie version) - I feel so sorry for the Phantom, I want to adopt him right away (unless of course he has a whip. Then I'd just want him to _uck me .) "It Could Happen To You" with Nicholas Cage and Bridget Fonda - Lottery winner loses money but gets his girl.True love at its sweet finest. So what if it's "corny"? "Wuthering Heights" (1971 version starring Timothy Dalton as Heathcliff) - You can just feel the transcendent romance in this film! Moving, memorable and very much worth seeing. How could anyone not find Timothy Dalton sexy and irresistible as Heathcliff? "To Kill A Mockingbird" (1963 version starring Gregory Peck) - Atticus Finch is the father everyone should have been lucky enough to have. If you haven't ever seen it, you are truly missing out. "Charly" (starring Cliff Robertson and Claire Bloom) - Tragic oldie about a retarded man whose IQ is increased to astronomical heights, via advanced science, only to have the experiment fail, slowly leaving him retarded once more. Movie idea was from the book: "Flowers For Algernon" "Marty" (starring Ernest Borgnine) - Oldie about a very lonely, unattractive bachelor who finally finds love. Academy Award winner. "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter" (starring Alan Arkin) - a very memorable tear-jerker. Well worth seeing. "Forrest Gump" and Philadelphia" (starring Tom Hanks) - Do these really need an explanation? "Scrooge" (film version of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol") - Best film version I've ever seen of the book - ever. "Glory" - A Civil war movie about a regiment of black Union soldiers fighting discrimination with dignity, with a haunting musical score, starring Matthew Broderick, as their Abolitionist leader. "Cold Mountain" - A woman finds true love, then pines for him (and he for her) while he is off fighting the Civil war. He comes home, to her, but and she loses him again very soon. Bring your hankie. Haunting musical score. Starring Nicole Kidman. "Pay It Forward" - starring Helen Hunt - a very effective tear-jerker that will make you think. "American Beauty" - won an Academy Award for its portrayal of lonley lives in materially advantaged U.S. suburbia All of these films are guaranteed to make me weep buckets. - Susan
