I think there's something wrong with a society in which animals have more "rights" than humans. I'm sorry but, I believe that animals were put on this earth to use as we see fit. Yes, that also endows us with an obligation but, as Merc said: People kill animals, every day to put food on our plates; to make clothing for us; to make shoes, belts, sneakers, handbags, all kinds of stuff. My only objection to dog fighting is the fact that there appears to be lots of suffering for the losing (or even the winning) animals. However, have you ever observed wolves, in the wild? Dogs behave violently with one another, sometimes. It's NATURal. If an animal is so horribly injured and in pain that killing them is the humane thing to do, why is that part of this an issue, at all. If I am walking down a street and see a dog that's just been "dropped" after a dog fight, in that condition, I would probably euthanize it, myself. How is that wrong? As far as helping you understand Mike Vick, I don't know if I can. I don't get it. I don't think dog fighting should be AS criminal an act as it is treated but, he certainly knew he was breaking laws. Like it or not, a law is a law. When it comes to celebrities breaking the law and getting "special treatment"? I think they should get special treatment. I think they should, by default, receive maximum sentences to serve as examples. Look at it this way: Is it more of a crime if Donald Trump fleeces me out of $100.00 or if he steals $500,000 from a corporation like Time Warner? He's done more harm to me. For that, he should serve more time, all by itself but, if they "throw the book at him", his fellows with think a little harder before they fleece the next guy. Peace and comfort, Michael
