I assume that is a joke. After all, Britain has a left wing government that is more rightwing than a Dutch rightwing government.

Come to think of it, Britain's leftwing government is probably the most rightwing government in western Europe, including France's new regime under Sarkozy and Britain's establishment is probably the most rightwing, though France is running them a good second.

I think the employees should tell the bureaurocrats to go and fuck themselves.
A few of their cars going up in flames or slashed tires should do the trick.
How do people come up with this stuff anyway?
Aren't those people supposed to be "Managers?"

popeye:
It appears that you are in favor of arson and vandalism, both of which are felonies.  To incite such behavior is called a conspiracy which is also a felony.  Aren't you the one who is always running off at the mouth about how criminals ought to be beaten by the cops before being deported.

I'll ask again.  Do you think the folks who demand such tolerance and sensitivity of us will stay home with family and dear friends to dance and feast on September 11, or head out to the "cultural center" and party like it's 2001?

Muslims don't "dance and feast" during Ramadan, actually. They FAST. They DON'T EAT. They don't even drink water. You make it sound like a fucking party! Trust me: Ramadan's very, very hard. Only at sunset will they eat and drink (no booze :-).

I am curious: who the fuck do you know who is a Muslim and who demands an extra share of the tolerance and sensitivity cake? All the Muslims I know go quietly about their business during Ramadan and they certainly do not expect any special accommodation made around their faith.

I believe you started it off in order to rile people up against Islam.

Shame.

PS: several hundreds Muslims died during September 11th 2001.

Alumbrado -> RE: Scotland and Italy surrender to Islam (8/22/2007 6:35:42 AM)

Apparently some Muslims disagree with your claims regarding dancing and feasting as part of Ramadan...see iftar for example. Also see Eid al Fitr, which is what TH was referring to.

"...Once an ascetic month of fasting, prayer and reflection on God, Ramadan has gradually taken on the commercial trappings of Christmas and Hannukah, straight from the hanging lights that festoon windows to the Ramadan greeting cards and Ramadan sales and advertising campaigns that have become the backbone of commerce for the holy month.
Marketers and businesses have caught on to the potential of 1.3 billion people at home fasting or breaking their daily fasts and getting back to normal life - a captive audience eager for entertainment and celebration, and more than willing to feast when the sun goes down."
http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/10/11/news/islam.php

"...Faithful followers of Islam are obliged to adhere to these strictures, eating only during the hours of darkness: the breakfast at dusk can be quite a feast! At the end of the month, when the new moon is sighted in the sky, the city sheds its sombre cape and celebrates madly for three days.

Gifts are exchanged between friends and relatives, and there is dancing and merriment. Women decorate their hands with beautiful henna patterns. The festival brings together the entire community, often with the excuse of luscious banquets and late-night celebrations."

I am merely telling Heretic that Ramadan isn't a month of parties and frolics. It's a decidely difficult endeavour. Yes, some people have a ball from sunset to sunrise.

Alumbrado -> RE: Scotland and Italy surrender to Islam (8/22/2007 6:41:20 AM)

Since your quote fom Heretic never made that claim, you aren't telling anyone anything. Nice straw tho.

I just can't understand why people put themselves through this brain fever, it is not as if there is someone up there demanding this nonsense and if there is, he/it/she doesn't deserve any notice being taken of them.

I dont know how the laws are in the UK, but in the United States I have the personal freedom to go to my job and not have somebody else's religion inflicted on me.

I am forced to go to a certain union meeting every month.  Two years ago there was a guy who started every meeting with a lovely prayer.  Several dozen people complained in writing to both him and the union president.  His response was to inflict a lovely rant on us, switch it to a moment of silence ending with an "Amen," and after a few dozen more complaints, the ACLU was notified.

He resigned (or was fired) his position and now those of us who want to worship in our own place and own time are not forced to listen to other people's crap at work.

As far as the topic of this thread.  I dont care.  I am sensitive to the beliefs of other people and if they are offended by me eating lunch at my desk at WORK, I will go eat somewhere else.

I simply demand the same courtesy from them.

I have many muslims in my family and I know for a fact that Ramadan is an act of free-will. Yet, btw, Any eating at office desks is inappropriate anyways, in any business envioronment.  But, as far as the smell of food goes, it is that very free-will that makes the muslim secure in knowing that he cannot and should not be even tempted by such pleasure. I don't see how or why any true Muslim would be bothered by it at all.  Infadels, to them, are not badddd people, they just happen to be those that follow the Q'uran.

Eating or drinking anything except water during day hours is forbidden (yet, free-will) to prove faithfulness to Allah.

I do know some baaad Muslims though, that do eat, drink, and be merry (which of which in any fashion is forbidden) all year round and they are only fooling themselves in their disobedience of religious laws. I remind them often of their hypocracy and also to not dare lecture me on ethics and morality.

Oh, Alumbrado... you're not saying anything at all here and your attempts to rile people up are futile [;)].

Exactly. They revel in their self-righteous indignation. They actually enjoy it. They build themselves up as victims and that enables them to point the finger at their imagined enemy.

That's how wars are started: I think it's fucking pathetic.

I was wondering how long  it would take before the projection would show up. Keep on being a cheerleader for ignorance, and I'll keep calling you on it.

Then perhaps you should try having a clue what you are talking about before you try to "educate" me.  The first day of fasting this year falls on 9/12.  It's the night before that could cause distress to the folks who aren't allowed to be insensitive to them.

kittinSol -> RE: Scotland and Italy surrender to Islam (8/22/2007 7:31:14 AM)

So what?! Did you see my reminder that Muslims died in the WTC too? It's a bad date: do you honestly believe that Muslims will celebrate Ramadan just to spite YOU?

Get over it, man.
