Actually the "scene" in Southern Ontario is huge, stretching from Windsor to Ottawa. There are a heck of a lot of kinky people in this province.
I have been in the local "scene" for about 6 years real time.
My recommendation would be to choose several munches, put in the time to go to as many as you can and make the effort to stick out your hand and say "Hi, I am _____, I am new to all of this" You will find some people caught up in their own clique who won't really acknowledge you, but you will also find some wonderful people who will welcome you warmly, have you sit with folks and introduce you around. If you are really nervous, contact the munch host and let them know it is your first time and that you are very shy, we hosts are very used to welcoming shy folks. We were all new at some point.
