my hair is long and very thick, very hot in the california summer; but i love the look and feel of it, i have had it down to my waist before and will again (donated to Ronald McDonald House in Atlanta before Uncle Sam could shear it off)... because of the frustration of those between stages where i can't do anything with it; it has taken me over a decade to grow it to the middle of my back (been actually growing it for 2-2.5 years)

cutting my hair is a hard limit because of the time and money i have invested in it; also, much of my ego is based in my hair and my self=image has always been of me having it... before any formal discussions occured between Ma'am and i, i was clear that i wouldn't cut my hair for Her or anyone but a prospective employer looking to put me in a higher tax bracket; i also made certain that She loved my long hair so that i could be reasonably assured that Her whim won't change with my hair length becoming an issue between us

Thank you for sharing Chylde. I am trying to grow mine as I said. Its almost to the top of my bra strap. I am doing it for selfish reasons though, heh. I am interested in hair bondage and you need fairly long hair for that. I think its long enough to do a little, may start a thread with a pic of it just to see if it is...hmmm...I am thinking now

I prefer long hair.  The longer the better in my opinion.  Not only because it almost always makes a girl better looking in my eye;  but also because I like the idea of at least one of us having long hair.  I've the Irish curse.  Starting getting a swiftly receding hairline in my late teens.

I love that I picked up the red hair from the irish ancestry.  But DAMMIT!  I wish I would've picked up the thick long hair from my odawa ancestry.

I perfer mine and my slaves to be long. Currently mine is short cause I donated mine for "locks for love" to make wigs for kemo patients.

locks of love does NOT make wigs for chemo patients.  they make a limited number of wigs for alopecia patients (alopecia causes a person to lose all the hair on their body, it does not grow back).  much of the hair donated to locks of love is sold for operating expenses, or it is not picked up, being called unsuitable.  their business practices have improved in the last couple of years, but they dont do the great things that many people think they do.

kitten, who is finally getting her hair to grow out and HATES the "well are you going to donate it once it reaches X length?" comments...and who also kept her hubby's ponytail when he had to cut it for work.

Apparently I'm in the minority. I had hair down past my waist until Master convinced me to let him cut it off (Yes, he actually cut it. And well, I might add.) It's now about two inches below my shoulders, and I feel like it's too long. I just couldn't do anything with it. I love the versatility I have now.

~FR~

Himself won't let me cut my hair. Just trim the dead ends. I'm also not allowed to dye it, wear it any way other than straight down (unless I'm cooking although I did get it sorta done for my daughters wedding) or do pretty much anything to it except wash it and condition it which I do every other day.

Master approves all hair cuts and colorings (usually just a highlighted weave).  He likes its color now so it will stay this way.  He used to have me keep it longer but has allowed it just below the shoulders now.  I report to him every morning how I am wearing it - pulled back, pinned up, down and curled, down and straight, or down and naturally wavy.  Whenever I am in his presence it is to be down and grab-able.

Every fantasy i have ever had has revolved around the sexualizatinon of haircutting as a form of control.  The whole reason I wandered into these boards was to try and understand the control issue, independent of the haircut.   I'm trying to get to some level of comfort with the underlying issue of what control i CAN exert over myself and comfort with that which I CANNOT control.  I tried to address this by intentionally growing my hair quite long and then cutting it off last year.  But while it was quite an experience, it didn't help me gain any understanding of the underlying "control" thing.  And now the fetish has become a serious point of friction in my primary relationship, creating much damage that I am now working to fix.

Has anyone been in a hair salon and looked at the books? What they consider long is so darn short nowadays. They call mine long, just past shoulder length, and I feel it is short. I have had long hair off and on. My hair grows fairly fast so it takes next to no time to grow out a bad cut luckily! But after each child it seemed it got shorter and shorter. Now I do wish it were a little longer and am debating letting a few more inches grow. My BF doesn't care, just so long as it's long enough to get a good hold on. ;)

yeah they consider shoulder length long, me I consider down to my butt long. I also have found for me personally, short hair is cooler and easier to care for is a myth. short hair has been for me, harder to care for sometimes, Because it's harder to dry now it's so short, and I can;t put it up with out a hair tie or a clip, and before I could.

It's not always about vanity or having longest hair, I never belived in split ends, thought it was a lod of shit my mom tried to feed me to manipulate me into cutting my hair. She thinks I look cutest in a paige boy cut just below the chin, and I had hair down to my butt which she always said looked scraggldy and I should cut it. It didn't, but she keeps her hair just below her ears, and thinks I should too.

So not believing in split ends I never had it cut nor trimmed.

I notice that some will keep really nasty split ends in a vain attempt to have the longest hair possible

I have long hair, and a lot of it. A mentor of mine says he will be very upset with me if I cut it. I've spent the last few years growing it (from being shaved completely bald...), so I'm inclined to comply. ;)

Personally, my hair preference depends on the person. I prefer hair over not, so I have something to grab on to, for sure. Outside of that.... just, whatever works with the person's features (including none at all).
