JerseyKrissi72 -> Some People Are So Rude. (8/23/2007 6:46:55 AM)

I woke up rather early this morning and thought it would be nice to take a long walk- it was a bit misty outside and felt great. I stopped at a local diner and had a nice cup of coffee to help wake me up- but it didn't work[8D] Well, anyhow...a woman that I know from when I use to work at a store in town came in with her grandchildren- I am not sure what medically is wrong with her but she has some really bad facial scarring- probably one of the nicest people you will ever meet. I sat with her for a few and we chatted, then I went back to my booth. These two "Christians" came in and ordered breakfast- I say they were Christians because they were so flaunting how wonderful their church is, how they go to church every week, blah blah blah....One of the guys takes out his cell phone and takes a picture of the woman at the next table with the facial scarring without her knowlege laughing at her- thank God she didn't have a clue ...they said "i can't believe this shit, did you get the pic"? and the other guy said "yeah" and half spitting out his coffee laughing. Well, this hurt me so much because if they only KNEW her they would realize she is a wonderful person and they do NOT represent ME as a Christian...I looked at them and said, as I was walking out of the diner, "excuse me, may i take your picture"? and they looked puzzled and said "why?" looking all confused..I said "because I want to take it home and show my kids what ignorance looks like...God bless you"...Well, the waitress laughed so hard cause she knew what I meant...and they sat there looking puzzled....some people believe that because they go to church every week it gives them the right to treat others in any way that they see fit..what if she DID know what they were doing?? that is so cruel...sorry, i had to vent.[&:]

You GO, Girl!!!!!

That's the problem I have with organized religion...the people reek of hypocrisy.....they act so righteous on Sunday, and screw the best friends wife the rest of the week!  Give me a break!

PS.  Yes, it's a generalized statement, based on the knowledge and experiences of known people to me.  If I don't know you, then I can't speak for you, and I'm not.

Standing ovation for JerseyKrissi!

I do realize it will probably take a miracle for them to have learned anything from what you did.  Hopefully next time they won't be so quick to ridicule others!

LaTigresse -> RE: Some People Are So Rude. (8/23/2007 8:21:13 AM)

I think I would have stopped at their table, inquired ever so sweetly as to thier names and what church they attended.....gone, and made an announcement in front of the whole congregation as to WHY I would not be returning. Based upon the values and morals of their members.  But then, I detest bad mannered, stupid people. Especially those that hide behind the hypocrisy of christianity.

I agree with LaTigresse..some people are really rude and ignorant..I probably would of said something to them...like take a picture it lasts longer

I believe it was Gandhi that spoke these words "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ"[&:] and in too many cases, this is so true.

it's called the "Holier Than Thou" syndrome, Krissi. this infliction affects many "christians". this is one of the reasons (and there are soooooo many) I do not go to church

JerseyKrissi72 -> RE: Some People Are So Rude. (8/23/2007 10:28:19 AM)

I go to church when I can and I am criticized by doing that by many..there are just those weeks I don't feel up to it physically, emotionally, etc etc..people forget that it is not a good thing to judge ...my church is a United Methodist Church close to my home and the people are very nice and down to earth for the most part, but you always get that "one" person to test you as a Christian lol[8D]

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: Some People Are So Rude. (8/23/2007 10:32:47 AM)

I was gonna say something, but I decided it's not worth the flaming I'de get if I did. Not saying that going to church is a bad thing, it's just not for everyone.

sappatoti -> RE: Some People Are So Rude. (8/23/2007 10:51:36 AM)

I tend to agree with most others' thoughts here on organized religion. Krissi, once again you've shown class. :)

LaTigresse -> RE: Some People Are So Rude. (8/23/2007 12:05:52 PM)

I am leaning more and more towards a more eastern religion myself. I just don't trust today's christianity nor the bible.

scifi1133 -> RE: Some People Are So Rude. (8/23/2007 1:09:08 PM)

Good for you for doing that.. there are far to many ppl out there that are far to callous towards others.

XianDominSJ -> RE: Some People Are So Rude. (8/24/2007 9:53:34 AM)

Krissi, I'm sorry to hear that these people, playing like they're Christians, acted like this.  I would say part of the reason Christianity is such a mess nowadays is because we've become TOO tolerant.  Yes, too tolerant.  You can act any way you want now, go to church, and the churches look the other way.  Rather, I would prefer (and this is more Biblical as well) that church leaders take the stand of just intolerance: "Excuse me, you two crude shutterbugs, if you're going to treat other without love and dignity, you are NOT welcome to be members of this church."  It's really sad when those outside the church have more disdain for hypocrisy than those inside.  But rest assured that there are many many of us inside that speak out, take our jeers and looks for saying thing like you said, Krissi.  We would call it a "rebuke" in our parlance, but the purpose is similar.
