No, but if you say something like, "There are people who exist on a spiritual plane - and those who live focused on material," things you have.

You've done a binary pairing, pairing two things together, one of which if favored, one of which is not. It's not useful when aplied to values, and it does some harm - we end up kidding ourselves that our proclivities and predelictions are "real," "noble," "high" and yes, "twue."

But Faramir...different things are favored by different people. I've seen as many dominants who will flat out state that they have no desire to have a slave, or even someone who wants to submit outside the bedroom as I have dominants who are seeking the proverbial "no limits" slave. Each has value, but in different ways and for different people.

This fellow is getting slammed for basically stating the same thing a zillion other posters have stated...he's disappointed that he hasn't yet met someone who is a good match. What did he say that is so horrible? He didn't say anything about

Actually, he is criticising the submissives on collarme that he has interacted with over the last 2 weeks for not living up to his expectations.

quote:

Pardon my noticing, but it seems many subs here are seeking wish fulfillment (rather than serving) and are unwilling to take the time to invest in a deeper involvement (not necessarily romantic), which would in effect instill a level of trust/understanding so necessary for the development of such involvement. By calling ALL the shots (when, where, what, etc.), they are- in actuality, foot stomping subs, topping from the bottom.

There is a whole lot of judgement in that post that tends to elevate the “twue no limits” slave above people with a head on their shoulders that actually care about their fate.

Yes. And I just made a judgement. I’m fully aware of it. I made it to prove a point.

There really is no point on me continuing to post "I disagree"...lol, so I'll leave each to their own opinion. He said nothing that hasn't been said in one form or another by many of the people at this site and others...including some of those who feel he committed an unpardonable sin. It seems that it is more acceptable coming from a forum regular than someone who just started posting, however, despite the fact that as one thread suggested we do...he prefaced everything as his own opinion.

(with yet another unpopular opinion <grin>)

Gemeni -> RE: Domspeak: The subs on collarme?? (7/8/2005 3:10:27 PM)

There's nothing wrong with making judgments, they go hand in hand with making decisions.

Anyone who says they never judge is pretty much a liar.

And all we really do is use that to make decisions about who we let get close to us.

Someone I might find contemptible may be just right for another.

caitlyn -> RE: Domspeak: The subs on collarme?? (7/8/2005 7:20:04 PM)

Being disappointed is a understandable ... but alrighty then, at least get in the mind of some of the people here (which may be scary). [;)]

What do some people want? Who the hell knows! Why don't you ask someone with a learner's permit what they are looking for in a 80K luxury car.

What are some people looking for? Who the hell knows, but one thing is sure ... the moment they get what they think they want, there is a damn good chance they won't want it anymore.

Relationships, talking things out, communication, understanding ... what's up with that? Aren't you the one with all the experience that is supposed to be able to know what they are doing? If a submissive has to write a book of all their needs and wants, what good is all that experience you have anyway?

Some of this is tongue-in-cheek obviously, but some is also sort of true ... at least for me. When you get an email and the person says they want to get to know you, and the first question is, "What are you looking for and what are your interests in this lifestyle?" ... what are you supposed to think? It may not be true, but what it seems like is that they are not as interested in getting to know you, as finding out if there is a chance that if they act nice they might get a chance to tap you.

People aren't what you want them to be, they just are what they are. You just have to deal.

Well you know, with an infinite number of threads, and an infinite number of monkeys typing replies....

Exactly ;) I was thinking it was bound to happen. But more along the rationale that two intelligent sentient beings would eventually agree on something, even if it was to the mundane question "Chicken or Fish?". Fyi, I'd pick fish ;)

LadyAngelika -> RE: Domspeak: The subs on collarme?? (7/8/2005 7:29:50 PM)

fate,

I completely understand what you are trying to say. This man has a right to his opinion. But his post is nothing more then a rant that says "Why won't all the girls here just submit to me? They mustn't be real subs." It's the tone in which he dismisses all those that do not want to play his game as something real.

We all have types, desires, needs. I preference is for very masculine male subs who are alphas in their everyday work lives and are very powerful. But I don't consider every other type of sub "not real", just different and for someone else. You'll never see me rant about why I can't find the kind of subs I want. And believe, me! I'd have a lot to rant about ;)

My profile and journal says something like "please tell me what Your values are and how You adhere to them in Your daily life." In reply, 9 xs out of 10, i receive email saying "I liked your pic." Sigh. For awhile i gave the writer instructions AGAIN, but i have stopped; it never worked.

i am seeking a Man of a certain character; so i do not care to discuss sexual acts; to cyber; or to have phone sex. Guess how many times my wishes are respected.

So the Man who started this post is disappointed after two weeks? Sorry...but tough shit. i have been here over a year and would just love some sort of device that prevented men from sending email until they had read the profile..and i know other women who feel the same way.

Slightly off topic, but it works for me. I put a line at the end of my profile that says insert the word "crimson" in your note to show me that you have read this far. It will definitely work in your favour. That is usually what a good boy starts his email with. It's also fun to see the clever ways they incorporate crimson into the message ;)

You have to pick your own word though ;)

tonight my journal entry said almost this exact same thing... sorry to continue dragging this off topic, but I am in a particularly bad mood related to this exact topic.

Could someone give me a good hard smack???

Only if you ask nicely. A little eyelash batting & grovelling might help too ;)

*lets her long hair fall over LadyAngelika's lap...

"Lady Angelika, would you please slap me?"

"I know that I don't deserve this, but I would love to feel your hand across my cheek...."

Hmmm... I think if you re-read his opening post you might find yourself in the humbling position of offering the author an apology.

I re-read it again in light of your comment, and highly unlikely. In any case, I have not been rude so I see no reason to apologise for my interpretation.

Yeah, but it's not PC in this "community" for subs/slaves to dare to voice those wishes. When they do then they're just bottoms. And who wants to be just anything? Frankly, I'd rather be a damn good bottom than a crappy slave any day of the week but that doesn't seem to appeal to most of the Toppy-types in these venues. Go figure.

Funny, I was thinking it was not pc in this community for Dom/Dommes to state anything that might call into question anyone else's idea of 'submission', despite that fact a lot of what people are wanting to engage in ISN'T giving up control, but rather controlling what it is they give up and labelling it 'submission'.

The thread author hasn't stated anything that a lot of Dom/Dommes haven't questioned before when dealing with 'do me this way, do me that way, but don't you dare do me any other way, despite the fact that what you might actually want me to do could be beneficial and be quite healthy for me, and I apparently do understand that even though I may say I give myself wholeheartedly to a dominant being, I don't actually trust you, sooooo do me do me do me... but don't you dare question my submission! I'm a submissive damnit Now dom me!' ...
