taintedgypsy -> RE: How old is too old? (8/27/2007 11:19:39 PM)

I have just turned 45 and gone on a journey of self discovery and recovery that I prob should have done a long time ago, but things happen when they are meant too. I feel stronger both mentally (and physically in some ways) than I have in decades. I see life ahead full of opportunities and wonderful experiences just waiting for me to reach out. I do not believe I will ever be too old, as many here have said ... for me too old means I need to give my attitude a good swift kick lol.

My um gave me a card ... "old enough to know better" inside says "but young enough to show everyone how it should be done" ... got to love her.

I wish you well, life is out there regardless of age, go get some of it for yourself.

just my opinion

Just a question for the masses...How old is too old?  Do you think when you get to a certain age you should no longer look?  Is to old 60, 65, 70?  I look at the majority of people who post and they are probably in the their 30's & 40's.
As you probably guessed by now I am at that threshold.  60 to be exact.  I don't feel 60, I don't look 60...but that stigma is there...should I stop looking for that special woman who wants to own me?

Generally speaking, I hope there is no "upper age limit" to kink, because I don't have any intention on dismissing it when my medicare kicks in or my AARP card comes in the mail (and that's many years from now, thanks.)

However, people have personal preferences on who they wish to play with, partner with, etc.  Be respectful of persons who have clearly stated age parameters and you'll be alright :-)

PS:  Gene Simmons is over 60... you don't see him giving up.

Wrong.  Gene Simmons just turned 58.  He was born August 25, 1949 in Israel.

sammy7626 -> RE: How old is too old? (8/28/2007 1:34:15 AM)

I haven't read all of the responses yet, but I get the feeling mine will only be one more chime on the "no such thing as too old" bandwagon.  Earlier this year I was at a gathering, and actually saw people who were, to my estimation, at least your age if not older, who were learning about BDSM and playing in a dungeon for the first time in their lives.  So yeah, if they're not to old to learn it, you're probably not to old to continue it.

On a side note, I don't think actual age has much to do with anything, physically speaking.  I'm not quite 31, but have the joints of an 80 year old.  I still get to play, I still get to love my D.  If there was such a thing as too old, I'd be screwed, because by the time I hit 60, I'll be blind, half deaf and mostly crippled...but it won't stop me from having the relationship I want with my Hubby.

Good luck to you!

Age is only a number and you are only as old as you feel... remember keeping active keeps you young at heart.

GhitaAmati -> RE: How old is too old? (8/28/2007 10:59:17 AM)

My Sir and I are members of a few swingers sites on the net....and living in Florida, we are surrounded by retirement villiages....

The number of people on those swingers sites, in their 70's and above, astonishes me.....I look at people in a whole nother light when I am working in one of the local "over 55" retirement communities.....

Hijack:  Since I was a kid.  I've met Gene and Paul twice.  Met Eric Carr (Fox) during their tour in 1990, about a year before he died back in 91.  I even have a number of vinyl imports from Japan and Germany showing alternate labeling than what was released here in the states.  Yeah, you could say that I'm a fan.

Celeste43 -> RE: How old is too old? (8/28/2007 12:23:53 PM)

Physically speaking, age does effect things. At 80, skin is very thin and fragile, rope marks will take a lot longer to disappear than at 40. I can't imagine many 80 year olds who would be fine with inverted suspension or being bound for several hours. You need more time to recover and your body doesn't bend as easily. Plus you're more likely to have developed chronic infirmities that will interfere; diabetis, osteoarthritis, bad knees etc.

Hijack 2: My first concert was when I was 12 was KISS in Naha Okinawa (Japan). They were the most popular thing in Japan until Music From the Elder but they are still all of that.  While they came to Japan often I never saw them again when I left Okinawa for Tokyo.

I am 55 and I recently exchanged a couple of e-mails with someone getting back into the lifestyle at 67 after dealing with the death of her spouse. She was an inspiration and a joy to talk to about her search for the right dom. Age is an attitude. Let me be one of many people who have told you your answer is NEVER!

I know what it is like to give up hope.

I had such hopes for my family.

But then losing my wife, and not so long afterwards losing my son ... I lost all my hopes and dreams.

Spent a month in bed, mulling it over. Only moved when the needs of the body (or my cats and dogs) demanded it.

Age was one of those things I used to argue against hope.

When I finally returned to the land of the living, I realized that regardless of the reasons to believe it was over for me, I realized I just -cannot- quit on myself.

I was raised better than that.

I've got too much self-respect and stinkin' pride to let the world mow me over like that.

Maybe I'm a fossil.

Maybe I am "old" (as domiguy thought cute to remind me).

But the fact is, I ain't dead yet.

As long as I'm alive, I can help others, care about others, and who knows what else I might find out there.

When I met the woman who became my wife and mother of our child, I had no idea what role she'd play in my life.

Life is full of surprises.

You just never know what is waiting until tomorrow to find you.

On edit:

Just had to add this, from my favourite Canadian artist: Neil Young.

MY MY, HEY HEY (OUT OF THE BLUE)
My my, hey hey
Rock and roll is here to stay
It's better to burn out
Than to fade away
My my, hey hey.

Out of the blue and into the black
They give you this, but you pay for that
And once you're gone, you can never come back
When you're out of the blue and into the black.

The king is gone but he's not forgotten
This is the story of a Johnny Rotten
It's better to burn out than it is to rust
The king is gone but he's not forgotten.

Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.

A 90 year old man in India recently fathered a child and announced he plans on continuing to produce offspring until he turns 100 at which point he'll give himself a rest. In the picture he looked extremely pleased with himself. My point is know your limits, but at the same time try to bear in mind the possible influence our youth-obsessed culture may have on your self-assessment. As to the question of hope, when 90 year olds are happily makin' babies with youngish women without the help of either viagra or oil money we should all be a bit more optimistic. Good Luck!

Ok enough of the sugar coating. Face it if  you have to whine about it then you are old. If you are counting on your looks to help you along then you are sad. You need an attitude adjustment.

This was what i was thinking, too.  The question sort of sounded like someone fishing for reassurance from others.  If you aren't sure about who you are or what you're capable of, no matter how old you are, then maybe you need to examime why that is.

What's age got to do with it?  It's about your attitude and living your life, not a number.

Oh, and the whole "I am 60 years old but look more like I am in my late 40's." sounds just a little too much like a personals ad, to me.

Just be yourself.  Accept who you are, a 60 year old man with needs and interests who is looking for someone to share your time and interests with.  How can anyone else accept you for who you are, if you don't?
