using fast reply--

Ghita, you are admirable!  I have always been considered a fairly good cook, by 'normal Midwest standards', but since becoming NChaka's I've re-thought that whole idea...  He's French!  [sm=hair.gif]  (just kidding Master!!)

In reality, He is not a picky eater and frankly, He takes the occasional culinary failure much better than I do.  I do find myself relying far less on processed foods than I used to, but I'm VERY far from the level you are at.  And there are a few things I do get to rely on Him to make, including mayo and doing anything flambĂ©.  [:D]  Anyway, hats off to you Ghita for your dedication and learning to cope with the extra work  [sm=flowers.gif]

NChaka's amicia, who misses getting to cook for her Master and His mayo

I have never been lifted so high as when I kneel at His feet.

I don't think Cooking Restrictions are that big of a deal... I  have very strict cooking restrictions.... I'm not allowed to cook ....period... but then I'm not allowed to do dishes... laundry... dusting... vaccuming... basically any cleaning... and I'm not allowed to do yard work.

phoenixxy -> RE: Cooking Restrictions..among others (8/29/2007 2:45:45 PM)

I do this anyway, infact I often end up having to cook separately for Sir as he cannot eat a lot of the food that i do, and prefers more refined food. :( but i do try!

see for me I think oh hey eating healthier like that would be awsome, then I am like well I want to be able to eat what ever whenever and not have it make me sick,  because it's something rare to my body, so in my mind the eating healthy thing to the extent it is, don't appeal to me any more lol.

you're not the only one like that though, on wife swap the one mom ate only a raw diet and no processed meats an the switch made her eat processed foods and she felt like shit for the whole visit.

And I can definantly feel the difference in my body when I eat something processed. Ill have a tummy ache for the rest of the day.

I happen to live in New England where the growing season is short, so come late fall and winter, there is no " fresh produce ", so I have to buy from a market that ships things in. I happen to think that despite not being off the vine, so to speak, it is healthier than canned veggies or fruit.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but it isn't true. Stuff shipped in loses tons of nutients every day. Stuff taken directly to the cannery or freezer plant still have the vitamins.

Talk to any qualified nutritionist/dietician and they'll tell you the same.

maybemaybenot -> RE: Cooking Restrictions..among others (8/29/2007 7:14:37 PM)

I'll take your word for it, Celeste.

My dietician has advised me to eat only " fresh " fruits and veggies due to a better fiber content. I have diverticulitis and I need a very high fiber diet to prevent complications/surgery. OTOH when I have had flare ups and been hospitalized, I have had to eat canned veggies and fruits because I need a lower fiber count.

So I was, or should I say: I am looking at it from a different perspective.
I stand corrected on " healthier".  Fresh is just healthier for me.

Diverticulitis, ouch! Sorry for you. I've got Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It flares up when I'm stressed and I'm in the middle of a pretty bad bout of it. If I see another pumpkin, yam, winter squash anything this week I may scream. But they are the best source of soluble fiber I know of.

maybemaybenot -> RE: Cooking Restrictions..among others (8/29/2007 7:36:09 PM)

IBS isn't a kick in the butt better than diverticulitis. lol. I don't like pumpkin or yams, so I eat alot of dried peas and beans and carrots for my soluable fibers. Do you like hummus ? You can make your own with dried chick peas, and it is a nice suppliment to eating all your fiber in meals. Fresh garlic hummus on a rye crisp... yummmy !  [:D]
