Hi!
I would like to know what your favorite cologne or perfume is and why you like it please. What does it smell like and does it evoke special memories? I am searching for a new one to try. I've been wearing Realm by Erox which is floral with hints of warm vanilla and honey and sandlewood. I love the fragrance but was thinking of trying something new. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I wear only one perfume about 90% of the time which is "Chanel No. 5" but it has to be the real perfume and not cologne..i like it because it is very subtle but lasts and i have had compliments regarding it over the years. Another classic one that smells a little stronger but is interesting is called "Joy" which smells a little spicy to me...[sm=tongue.gif]

Celeste43 -> RE: Perfumes (8/28/2007 4:06:12 PM)

Only Joy. Parfum not eau de cologne. Joy has the least alcohol content of any scent I know. That's why it's so damned expensive. Problem is, my skin burns up the alcohol in perfumes in seconds and then they disappear. Joy is the only thing I have ever found that is still on me half an hour later.

Me, I'm really liking the oil blend I just got. Works well, has that "subtle yet bold" thing going on, and it lasts for hours...

I love Estee Lauders Beautiful as it reminds me of my Mothers butterfly garden from my childhood. We spent many hours in the summer months just sitting watching all the different butterflies which Mum could name. the smell of the flower she planted to attract the butterflies always overwhelmed me  [:)]

I like the oil blends that I make for myself, experimenting with the scents I like.  I'm not big on perfumes per se, but enjoy a soft, subtle combination of oils that have a hint of  magnolia or jasmine, because of the nostalgic memories of being back home downsouth.

earthycouple -> RE: Perfumes (8/28/2007 6:11:46 PM)

I love fruity stuff.  Anything too floral and heavy gives me a migraine.  95% of the time I think women smell terrible.  I can't figure out why anyone wants to wear something that makes others feel like they are in a cloud of gunk.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Perfumes (8/28/2007 6:16:12 PM)

Its not just women.  My boys seem to like to BATHE in their cologne.  I keep trying to tell them that no one is going to want to get close to them, if they have to wear a gas mask to do it.

Donnalee -> RE: Perfumes (8/28/2007 6:16:36 PM)

I'm allergic to it and also wonder why people wear scents that knock you over from 10 paces.  I think your scent should be contained in your personal space...for you to enjoy and those you stand close to....and to perhaps draw them in just a little bit closer......

I choose the fragrance that I'll wear for the day based on My mood, occasion, outfit, or time of day.  Here are a few of My favorites at the moment.

DKNY - "Be Delicious"  Light, Fruity, Spring/Summer, Casual, Day Time
Ralph Lauren - "Lauren Style"  Powdery, Autumn
Gucci - "Envy" - Citrus, with Musk undertones, Upscale Casual - Formal, All Seasons

OMG!  One of my fave topice:

Ralph Rocks
Hot
Innocence
Angel
Marc Jabobs
Truth (if you can find it)
Almost anything by Calvin Klein
Red is good
Beautiful is also good
I even like Tommy Girl
I especially like those with the chocolate or vanilla undertones

Lashra -> RE: Perfumes (8/28/2007 7:55:00 PM)

I wear Envy Me by Gucci, it is a light fragrance with a hint of jasmine which is a must in all my perfumes. I like florals with a touch of spice, nothing to heavy or it gives me a headache.

My favorite mix: Oil of Abramelin. For some reason, it makes me feel like I'm a different, perhaps better person... [;)] (yes, this a joke for the amusement of those of us who know... 93, y'all!)

My mix this time: 15p Cinnamon e.o., 3p Myrrh leaf e.o., 2p Myrrh resin powder, 10p Galangal e.o., 1p Sichuan pepper (citrix bud) powder. Nice and warm, very spicy, a little bit of the good funk from the myrrh, clean citrus edge... and definitely much more "me" than my usual scent. This was blended up by Garden Creations here in TH... Good folks. I use maybe a total of 3 drops a day - behind the ears, middle of chest and on wrists. It stays in the background until you get next to me - which is the way perfumes & scents should be.

As to the women who bathe in these floral abominations, my first thought is along the lines of "Damn - your twat must stink to high heaven to require that much cover-up..."

For those of use who prefer oil-based scents and don't want to make your own (why? it's easy and fun!), a great on-line shop is Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. No, I have nothing to do with them - I just like their stuff...

Sweet1Maybe4U -> RE: Perfumes (8/29/2007 2:02:46 PM)

I'm soo thrilled with all the responses. I've never thought of making my own "personal" scent..Now I wanna try it..but where to start?..I just love jasmine and sandalwood..maybe that would be a good place to start?
