Northfield man caught after jumping into river to escape police

BRISTOL, N.H. (AP) _ A Northfield man faces a host of charges after allegedly speeding and swimming away from police.
Shawn Jacques, 24, crashed after speeding away from an officer who tried to pull him over for speeding, then jumped into the Newfound River, police said.
A police dog tracked him to the river bank, where he was arrested.
It turned out the car had been stolen a couple of hours earlier from Franklin.
Jacques is charged with drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license and receiving stolen property.
