Ok, no snickering please. lol [:)] Are slaves the only ones that get collared? or Can submissives get collared too? There's been threads discussing the differences between a sub and a slave, and I've formed my own thought on that. It's a mindset, at least thats how I view it. I don't believe I'm "slave material" [;)] and at this point, I don't think I'll become one either. So does that mean I'll never be collared? Just a thought that I've been curious about, and who better to ask than you oh so wise dom/masters/domme's. Thank you.

A collar can be used however you want to mean whatever you want it to mean.

Yeah. Collars are DAMN sexy! I am currently "uncollared" but still wear one to play in from time to time..... did I mention they are DAMN SEXY? [;)] PS. On a semi serious note, Collars have about the same range of meaning to people than wedding rings do. Some people collar very sparingly, others collar rather willy nilly.

As far as I know, you can be collared whether you're a slave OR a submissive. I've collared two submissives since joining the lifestyle. The first one was collared too hastily and had to be released after two years once I realized he could never be the submissive I really wanted. I was much more careful the second time and we have passed the two year mark and are still going strong. Mistress Scarlet

I wear my Masters collar and He wears mine...We are BOTH collared, so a collar is for whoever wants to give and receive one.

Anyone who is in a committed lifestyle relationship with me could potentially be collared. Only angel ever has been, and he considers himself a slave. I had considered it before with other that considered themselves submissives. Its the meaning you give it, not the physical presence. Angel doesnt physically wear a collar, but he is collared (if that makes sense). He has one, but it doesnt work for him to wear it aside from when I truly desire to see it. DV

Anyone who decides they can have a collar can have a collar. Any couple that decides they're going to use a collar can use a collar. As an example, I have a collar of sorts; it reminds me of my commitment to my spiritual path, which is one of Mastery. Master Fire

A collar is whatever two individuals involved in a D/s relationship decide on. A submissive can be collared, but probably by a different set of guidlines than a "slave". These depend solely on a case by case situation. The word "collar" could even be assigned to an item of jewelry, like a necklace, bracelet, or something of that sort, that still holds the same meaning and significance between the two individuals. -Jay

Speaking as one who currently has no sub/slave, it is my humble opinion that submissives can also be collared, but please keep in mind that a collar is not automatically given to a submissive/slave, but rather it is offered to them by their Dom/Master. In fact, there's a web site you might want to check out called www.darkconnections.com that features an article on collars and the different levels of collaring that a submissive/slave recieves via Old Guard rules. Hope this information is helpful to you.

when i was in search for a D/s relationship, one of the questions i asked was "what is your opinion on collaring?" for me, its a sense of security, to know where i stand, to feel wanted and needed and loved. not anyone else's definition, mine. Sir feels the same way, its a sign of his ownership of me, and that he wants me always. kitten

I've only been collared once, with it's traditional meaning, and not sure i'd want to go that route again. Taking if off was the single most difficult, painful and life altering thing i've ever done (except for my ums), even more difficult than when i removed my wedding ring back in 1998. i have, however, played with a collar and a leash, and admit that i found it sexy, arousing, and the feelings of safety and security lasted long after that particular scene. I'm a collared sub. I've been that for four years now and I'm never going to be a slave. He doesn't want one and I refuse to be one.

One can collar a submissive or slave. There are no rules set in the book for that. If you Master wants to then by all means do it. Your relationship is about you two and not what all others are doing. I do not collar as some have said," willy nilly." In my years of doing this, I have only collared once. I take this collar very, very seriously.

I'm a switch who surrenders to and is owned by a dominant man. I tend not to use the term sub or slave to describe myself. He gave me a collar last year. This year I gave him a cuff he wears all the time. Anything is possible. The limits are the ones you see or place upon a thing.
