lol, pythagoras would moult.  you cannot have world without ENCOMPASSING an area, and pi is a world number, easier to rid yourself of air to breath than that.  Let us take the simple case at first there mssr fermat, dispatch the cubics just in terms of imaginary numbers, or if you prefer, xyz cartesians, I believe in minkowski space at any rate. sin arccosine and and secants will be replaced by what in a circular world, it is kinda how they are fundamentally described, even if you throw tangents and arc(heeheehee)tangents  out by fiat.

Ain't gonna need a proof here, way to early to take a wait and see attitude, but a little meat on the bones would succor me for the present.

I can actually explain that and how you can win it, but you have to be unbelievably rich because you gotta be able to stand in for 20k twice a week for 20 years to win, and get your money back with a chance that you will actually have money ahead. this will take more paper than the margins have available for proof, so I leave it as an exercise to the reader.

it is kinda complex dealing with 54 million combinations and no faces like dice, (so order is not important) but like; bill gates could be a millionare in the lottery, easily.

Everyone else relies on luck.

What sorts of things do you like to think about?  What inspires curiousity, wonder?

Besides sex you mean?

Other people inspire curiosity in me.

OK, maybe CL can tell me how to get a square peg into a round hole when even though the diagonal of the square is <= the diameter of the circle it doesn't want to go. Its how I ponder my life (fitting moi, the square, into life, the circle).

And Pythagoras is a fav of mine. Definitely on the list of "those you'd invite to dinner if you had the chance". Mathematician, philosopher, musician... the dude could do it all...... Pythagorean tuning brings us modern music, the marvellous aesthetics of the Alhambra and an equation we all have to learn in school and so on. Wow.

On the whole, methinks I doth think too much.

Yeah, he was neat enough.  His cult was something of a problem.  They staved off mathematical advancement through acting as something not overly dissimilar from a tyrranical terrorist organization.
