Yup. I believe that's the term.

It's how I learned how to make good popcorn - for watching the show from the cheap seats...

Thank you, slavegirljoy. I appreciate the definitions.

You mentioned a pansexual chapter in the DC area. It brought to mind another question. Is pansexual a term used primarily within the bdsm community?

Elena

personally, ive never heard "pansexual" outside of the bdsm community. i live in a small town though......so if you did say something like that they would think like michael......sex with pans......*sigh* oh the world we live in

your most welcome for the link. i hope it is helpful to you.

Really?  I had the distinct impression I was filling more of a 'stunt double' for them.  I suppose I'd be better off not mentioning beer was involved.

Maybe I make a really ugly woman, but not so ugly after a few rounds....

I see the term pansexual a lot in the community (as we are a pansexual group and welcome all) yet sometimes I see this:

Straight men, bisexual women....good!
Bisexual or gay men; or gay women...bad!

Not always but often enough.

Considering neither were 'lipstick' lesbians...and both were anti razor....

It wasn't so bad.

Heh,

The only girl screams came from the actual girls.  I never knew lesbians had such strong legs though....

I've often read the term 'pansexual'  and was curious to understand it better..

If I understand the term correctly, it describes an openness for "human" sexuality, regardless of born sex, gender identity, sexual orientation as long as it is consensual? Am I understanding this correctly?

Also when someone uses the term, is it used to describe their own sexuality (e.g. like bisexuality) or their acceptance of all forms of sexuality.

Thanks in advance!

Elena

These days, it's terribly easy to google the word you're looking for:

Thanks everyone!

MisPandora, I agree, google is wonderful. Considering how wikipedia works, I don't trust it as a reliable resource for information. The other sites listed pretty much what I had suspected. I don't participate in any local community groups, so it's always informative to get insight from those more knowledgeable than I. But thanks for the link!

taintedgypsy: that was priceless!

I'm going to find my cast iron skillets. ~smile~

i see the term mostly used with BDSM groups but, it doesn't have to be.  There are a growing number of swingers groups that are opening up to pansexuality.  Although, probably most swingers are still strictly heterosexual m-f swapping with m-f, for strictly m-f sex, there are plenty who also enjoy f-f and m-m and f-m-f and f-m-m-f, etc., and, of course, transvetite and transgender fits in there somewhere, too.  There are a lot of possibilities when you have 3somes, 4somes, and group sex.  And, while some swingers enjoy BDSM, not all do.  So, that's one example.  There are probably more.

maybe it was Peter Pan...he's always flying around in tights, hanging out with Tinkerbell and all those Lost Boys, chasing a pirate named Captain Hook...sounds like an orgy in the making

Actually, yes - but through convoluted means.

pan, as root, means "all" - and Pan, the deity, was originally a universal theriomorph - having aspects of all animals that were known, including humans. His presence was fearsome and instilled literal "panic" amongst people and animals.

When you are confronted by something, you flee it, fight it or fuck it. You can't flee your self and fighting yourself isn't much good either... so the Greeks saw Pan as rather horny.

He underwent further transformation with the Romans and became Priapus.
