canupleaseme -> tape hoods? (8/30/2007 9:11:09 AM)

Hi all I am posting to see if anyone could give me some tips or ideas formaking tape hoods.  I remember seeing once or twice pictures of subs/slaves with their faces taped up with either duct tape or bondage tape with breath holes of course.  I have become rather intrigued and wish to try this with my boy.  But I have a few questions.
What do you use under the tape so that it doesnt stick to their hair etc?
And whats the best way to start with the wrapping?
Thankyou [:)]

It depends on the kind of tape... If you use bondage tape (PVC, non-adhesive) you don't really need anything under it. At most, a stocking will work well to keep all the hair tidily in place so it doesn't go poking out all over. A stocking would also be adequate if you were using black electrical tape, which can be a good option since it comes in a smaller roll, and can be done to a nice smooth, shiny finish if you're careful. Just make sure you've got a good overlap on electrical tape, because the adhesive works much better on tape-to-tape contact than tape-to-skin (sweat will start removing it before you've even finished the wrap)

For duct tape, you really want to use a layer of plastic wrap, because the adhesive is strong enough to stick to hair through a sheer fabric. If you go to an office supply store, they usually sell half-rolls of pallet wrap- a roll of plastic wrap about 6-8" long, with an extended handle for easier use. This is a much better size for doing a head than a full-sized roll of kitchen wrap. Of course, you'll need to have something handy to punch nose holes as you wrap it around.

i'm not sure what the best way is to start wrapping, but i think it works best if you start under the chin, right by the top of the neck, go around the top of the head until the underside of the jaw and top of the head are covered, then cut the tape and start going around the head laterally starting at the chin and working up. Should be common sense, but don't wrap it too tighly at any point- not just by the neck, but around the jaw (can cause cramps in some people, like me [:(]), over the nose (real obvious), or over the eyes (can become very unpleasant very quickly if pressure is put on the eyelids). Don't forget to take out contact lenses first, if applicable [:)]

Have fun!

I generally use saran or vetwrap as the underlayer, then if I'm going to encase with duct tape, I apply that in sections.  I also work with ace bandaging, but one must use extreme caution in doing compression over the eye sockets (pad well first.)

Pet dave and MisPandora thank you very much for your advice [:D] .  Ive always disliked hoods till we got one a few months ago and now I love them !  And I like the idea of taping one on and him feeling the restrictions.

Can you tell me anything about safe times it should be allowed on for?  I imagine they are a lot more hot and sweaty inside and I want the mouth area taped over for a good part of the time with it on,  I dont want him getting dehydrated lol.

And also removal any tips?  I know of course to use saftely scissors just wondered if there are any points to learn?

I have extensive experience with tape hoods.  Have worn them up to 30 sweaty hrs.  Most of the time we have used saran wrap under the tape, but also something as simple as a thin plastic bag.

When applying the tape, cut it in small pieces before applying, don't pull it straight off the roll to the head because it can to easily become too tight that way.
For removal (and emergency) we put a small cotton wad under the jawbone about half the way between the ear and the cheek?  That way we have an easy access for the scissors under the layers of tape and plastic.  By cutting up wards aiming from the middle of the jaw to the temple (to avoid cutting too much hair and eyes) and then turn over to the forehead.  Good rule of thumb is to cut always the same way so that becomes natural and you don't have to think too much in case of an emergency.

If you put a tube into his mouth, it's possible to give him water and nourishment.  24 hours are quite possible, if you accept the dangers of sleeping with it.
