I wasn't kidding about the Ultrabrite btw...there is something in it that speeds the healing of bruising. It usually takes a long time for them to fade on me as well, but they are usually barely visible in 3 to 4 days after using the Ultrabrite. I used to use it quite often, but these days I just let them fade when they fade.

Mnay have echoed this..

find a kink friendly OB/GYN. You local group, prob has some leads.

Again echoed, doctors and such have to report it...here's a good reason why.

I love being beaten, like most here. BUT...

My sister is married, her husband bneats her. No she isn't lifestyle. This last time she showed up 2 weeks after the fact. I MADE her go to the hospital, files charges... she had an obital contusion...basically, he frctured her eye socket. He's wanted on felony domestic abuse charges... and he's out on parole for a violent crime. This makes his charges renewed, adds new ones...and he's going away (if they can find him) for years. That would be great....

My sister has been missing 6 days now. Thought maybe she'd just gone back with him... stupid but.... she's never in over a year missed a visit with her son. She missed this one. She NEVER passes up on picking up her paycheck.... she hasn't picked up this one. That, along with other things...makes me believe she's not just ...gone. See, he'll beat her, and then take her away "camping" to the middle of wherever til it goes away or gets better.... then brings her back. Well, this time... he's up on some serious stuff..... mostly on my insistence that she need do this.... and I don't think he'll feel like he has anything to lose this time.

She'll go to the doctor, and not press charges, or press them and go back to him.... whatever.

You can't blame the doctors and such (I'm not saying all or any are...) but this is why they do it. Just find a kink friendly doctor...or be as decently honest about what it i as you can. I'm honest about stuff like that... I answer questions about my lifestyle..alot. I have had 2 maybe 3 adverse reactions to it. But I act like a grown up about it when I do talk about it. (again not accusing anyone.)

Thanks for listening..... I'm just hoping through this story, people will undertsand why the doctors, nurses and that HAVE to tell when it even looks like abuse...without a good reason not to.

Anyways...thank you

There are times I have whip marks & claw marks & can't figure out who gave them to me Sir or Rascal (my cat)

LOL I get that too. Our cat has always managed to be able to scratch us in the night so we wake up with new scratches and don't know where they come from! One of the cats also recently slashed me across the wrist so I've been walking around for a week looking like I tried to commit suicide! Not fun when you're at your Mother's house and she notices it...!

A few weeks ago my cat did leave scratches all over my breasts and stomach and it definitely looks like abuse. Never try to hold your cat in the car on the way to the vet (we couldn't get her in the carrier). One of my favorite t-shirts is a shredded rag now too.[:@]

Put her (the cat) [:)]into a pillow case. Then turn the carrier so the opening is facing up, now, gently let the cat out of the bag (love puns) and into the carrier. Gently rotate to the regular position and kitty will still unhappy by you and your clothes will be safe.

PS: I have 5 cats here and this happens from time to time.

misteria -> RE: Bruising and going to the Dr. (7/13/2005 8:48:29 PM)

I feel the need to speak on medical professionals being mandated reporters of abuse. This is quite true. I am a nurse and am very familiar with the laws and what can happen if you don't report. I have two things to add to what has already been said:

1- if it was told or explained to me that the patient was " into rough sex", i most likely would drop it right there and carry on.

2- if i suspected perhaps it really was abuse, there are a series of questions to be asked to get a better picture of whether it is abuse or not. Not having to do with specific sexual activity, more having to do with the patient being afraid, feeling unsafe and so on. The presence of bruising is not, in and of itself, something we are mandated to report. We should question it, if it is severe or appears out of the ordinary, but most of us in the profession are pretty well read on diverse lifestyles and accept a rational, reasonable explaination.

Having been in the same situation I have just told them that I enjoy an alternative lifestyle. His reply was to ask if I practiced safe, sane and consentual activities to which I replied always. He said good and never said another word. Maybe he is part of the community, maybe not. We have never talked about it again. But I was never reported or anything. However I live in the SF area and I think doctors around here see lots of everything.

So, i have a lil prob. Daddy tells me that i bruise rather easily and they take a long time to heal.
i never paid much attn until recently.
my boobs are covered w/bruises right now and i have an ob/gyn appt on the 21st.
Do you think the Dr. will say anything?
is it true that the Dr. could report it as abuse? This is a new Dr. to me, first visit.
if he says anything, should i just tell him it's from rough sex?
And lastly, while i doubt he'll see them, i have some scars and some long term-healing places on my ass too. i plan on keeping my ass down on the table, so that shouldn't be a factor.
Are you easily bruised and if so, how do you deal w/that?

My best friend had a similar experience. Her Master/Husband and she had played the night before an OBGYN Doctor's appointment (one she'd forgotten about). They are mainly into Single Tails and play rather hard.

When she went to the doctor, she was of course marked fairly well (I've seen her play, she probably looked like hamburger). She spoke up and said something before they questioned her. She said "What you see was absolutely consensual". The nurse nodded, the Doctor didn't ask any questions and it was never mentioned again.

I'm not suggesting that you take this route, I'm only sharing what I know another person in a similar situation did.

Lily
