ChainsandFreedom -> RE: How do illegal Aliens effect the economy ? (9/5/2007 11:29:06 AM)

Thanks Estring.

My spell checker is off protesting in solidarity with all the other high-end technologies created by well paid immigrants who work for high-profit American firms that are losing bussiness because they can't keep the programmers trained in American schools here in America because of Visa laws.

Skipping school to play Everquest in the library and download from Napster isn't really 'programming', that's just what they tell their friends they do for a living [:D]

Alumbrado

how 2002 of you-nobody plays the origional everquest anymore, and napster ceased to matter once they started charging and i tunes did it better.

Seriously though, how many computer science majors or computer programmers have you ever met who can spell?

The fact you can be deported on a student Visa if you don't get halfway decent grades (or be deported anyway if 20,000 other student visa holders got a job that year before you) tends to lead to immigrants who have a better mentality than many homegrown students. Maybe it has to do with their high suicide rate as well...

Any time someone opens up their argument with the word 'illeagles', you know right away their biased.

I don't refer to almost everyone I know as 'repeat traffic offenders', I don't refer to my nehbor as 'elderly parapalegic on disability insurance', I don't refer to my boss as 'stop at nothing to with-hold commision', and I don't (always) refer to the president as 'officer once cited for deriliction of duty during war-time'.

when you reduce a discussion about people to their legal status, you're being derogitory and biased right out of the gate.

The fact of the matter is, the American constitution is a social contract based upon the Magna Carta. That means that the government's authority comes from serving the people, not the other way around. You can redifine what a 'citizen' is, if you want to go against the supreme court's precidents abolishing slavery and establishing universal sufferage/right to own property, but to say that millions of people who permanantly live and work in the US arn't citizens and don't have rights is pretty un-American and un-just. To support that kind of immigrant legislation, by an extension of logic, is to support a government that can declare your livlihood illeagle and deny you your rights for basically any reason...leagally speaking, accepting the laws dealing with 'illegle immigrant' status threatens every single Americans own citizenship status down the road.

Ah,..........HUH?

I work at a well known department store where i was promised a full time position with benefits. After working for a period of 12 40 hour weeks i had my hours cut to 32 . Now iam told that there is a hire and promotion freeze.Strange enough they hired a lot of mexicans who work at night and receive very little pay.Across from my house is a sawmill where a lot of mexicans are working now as well .(many without a greencard).I am not against people who come here to work and make a living if they do it the legal way but it burns me up if they do it illegaly and make it hard for others to make a living.

"Short on Labor, Farmers in U.S. Shift to Mexico". NY Times.

Anybody else read this article on yesterdays front page?

Our proud tradition of American farmers has now been reduced to renting cropland in Mexico. Renting land. Like share-croppers or peasants.
"We" loose the money laborer's spend here instead of simply the remittance they send back to their families.
"We" loose the largely middle-class transportation and farm support jobs.
"We" loose the taxed wages, we loose the property taxes on the land.
As the author points out, "we" even loose construction and service sector jobs as former farm hands have to find alternative means of employment-eleven dollars a day instead of nine dollars an hour isn't convincing anyone but the owners to move back down south.

gee i thought popeye and it seeks were kidding. sheeeshers.

i lived illegally in the usa for 13 years. i was an illegal sublet for 9 years in manhattan. i worked wif all latino's, isreali's, europeans, all illegal as well in a wee restaurant in da village. we were the nicest buncha folks. i learned a lot from all of em but especially da latino's. i was amazed at wut they went thru to try and better their existence. some of them litterally ran thru the jungle and paid a steep price to get thru to the usa. they worked approx 60 hours a week and made like 300$ cash. they mostly lived in da bronx wif lots of others, sisters, bro's cousins and so on. they sent money home to mexico or wherever.

some had big important jobs where they came from, like an engineer, a teacher. there lives were no picnic. they worked hard endlessly and laffed and sang loud spanish songs when the customers wernt there yet. the lights in their eyes were lovely. i trusted them completely and grew to love them very much.

borders are strange things often run by strange people in my opinion. this is God's country, the whole dam place. or if da word God squicks ya, da whole dam place is Earth. most of us here, a lot of us are earthlings. decent love-abidin people. if folks belong in a spot they wernt born in then thy ought ta be free to go there. the 'legal' system of tryin to relocate is pretty near impossible.

itseeks -> RE: How do illegal Aliens effect the economy ? (9/6/2007 4:34:11 AM)

Let me make something very clear.I am not against people from other countries .When i posted this i was very angry because i have to find a second job to make up for the lost hours.i am raising 2 kids and it is not easy for anyone to do that alone.I guess i needed to vent and it turned out the wrong way.I don't hate Mexicans or for that much i dont hate anyone.I am just trying to better myself and make sure my kids have all they need.*go ahead Domiguy*make fun about my spelling

LOL, I know some bank robbers up in Boston who are *very* nice people too! Very "love abidin" people, they just like to rob banks is all, they "ought ta be free" to do that, don't you think?
The legal system discriminates against them!
Banks are very strange things, why don't they like to be robbed?

Seeks, I don't "hate" illegal aliens either.
But they need to understand that the U.S. is not their country.
Everyone who wants to come here from the whole world simply can't, it would be total caos.
They claim to be "law abiding" but the very first thing that they do is commit a Federal Felony by sneaking into our country!
They need to stay in their own countries and start making them more livable.
At this point in our history I really do think that we can end all immigration.

this issue is a no win issue.

do you really thing a white person will be emptying your bedpan?

like it or not- white folks havent bred as much as the latino community.

by fate whites will be outnumberred.

i dont like it any mor then the next one. the thing is too many of us remember regans once in a life time amnesty.

neither side can win this boondockle.  how about we fix Mexico? make it a nice place?

hints of racism cut both ways.

lemme ask u a question. how many washington big shots have a "nanny" for which no tax is paid?

there ya go. there in lies the problemo!

alot of laxy Americans could relearn teh work ethic. [tho] the blame transends both sides of the issue!

PaHunk, how about Mexico fix Mexico?
I don't want to pay anymore money for foreign countries or illegal aliens.
They (can) raise my taxes for Minefields and Snipers though.

PaHunk, "Latino" and "Hispanic" are not "races", they're ethnic groups.
For whatever reason some of them are trying to play a racecard where none exists. ("La Raza")
They must think that if they accuse us of "racism" that somehow we'll let their illegals stay in our country or that it would somehow trump our laws something along those lines.
They try different things to get the lefties to "feel guilty" like trying to call themselves "people of color", "brown skinned people" etc as if that would make a difference.
You can have purple or green skin but if you sneak into a country illegally you're still an illegal alien!
Like they say, "when someone has to resort to calling you a racist they've lost the argument."
"La Raza" = The Klan with a tan.

Oh I can't WAIT!  Think of the programs we will be able to take advantage of.  Those we set up to try to even the playing field.  And we'll be able to cry prejudice and have the ACLU demand apologies and stuff!  KEWEL!!!!

Geee.. I wonder if the new majority will keep those programs in place?

The above is something I never would have posted 10 years ago.  The constant suppression of opinions and language is causing a simmering pressure cooker that is bound to explode.
