I have a very intense scene coming up...and I want the girl I am playing with to have a memorable time.  I know music goes hand in hand with some scenes..and I am wanting to have a soundtrack for the whole scene, about 3 hours.

Does A/anyone have any suggestions for artists I should include on this CD.

Thanks A/all

depends on what the scene is, thus spake zarathustra, enya, enigma---------gregorian chants, Das Ring der Niebulungen, Faust-----------

Hell, KC and the Sunshine bands 'Boogie Man'------lol, all over the map.

Absolutely!  Sarah Brightman has a number of great pieces for scening.  I recommend...

From her Eden album:  In Paradisum... Eden... Anytime, Anywhere... Deliver Me...  and probably a few others you'll like.

From her La Luna album:  La Lune...  Winter in July...  He Doesn't See Me, This Love, La Luna...  and almost the whole rest of the album.

Several songs from her album entitled Harem, and a few of the somgs from Phantom of the Opera.  Find the words to Music of the Night and really think about them.

Here are some of the lyrics to Once in a Lifetime from her Dive album (the music has a great beat, too):

Let me dive in
To pools of sin
Wet black leather on my skin
Show me the floor
Lay down the law
I need to taste you more

Refrain:
Then I feel your sea
Raining down on me
Can this be my once in a lifetime
Hells at heavens door
As I need you more
You know youre my once in a lifetime

Your whole body will tremble
But this time is reality
Though the time will pass
Youll never
Never forget
It will be
Only once in your life

When you take me
And make me cry
Then I feel you satisfy
Show me the cage
Its all the rage
And lock it up

Found a part of me
Thats a mystery
That will be just once in a lifetime
When the moon is high
Passion never dies
Will you want me for all a lifetime

Giving you my soul
Letting you control
Took away a part of my lifetime
Memories of you
Left me black and blue
Now I know youre once in a lifetime

Gosh, you don't think she might be into some stuff, eh?

Also Loreena McKennitt's albums Book of Secrets and The Visit both have good scene music.

Hope these suggestions are helpful.  Have a beautiful time with your girl.

oh yes, how could I be so clumsy.

Turn your face away from the garish light of day,
turn your face away from cold, unfeeling light,
and help me make the music of the night.....

The Carmina Burana offers some interesting choices (and O La Fortuna is not necessarily among them!)

Well...the scene is going to consist of heavy flogging and torture....sensory depravation and constant sexual abuse.

Does that help with artists?

The slower bits of the Carmina Burana would be a great intro...

if you want to make the experience really jarring you could cut back and forth between classical pieces and snippets of Rob Zombie--tracks such as "Living Dead Girl" and "House of 1000 Corpses" have a driving beat that would be very good at setting a flogging rhythm.

Or if you want to stay completely Rock/Metal on the soundtrack, there's the rather obvious opening of Guns 'N Roses "Welcome to the Jungle"....Slash's guitar intro on that track would work in my mind.  Intercut Rob Zombie, Fear Factory, with maybe a smidgen of Theater of Tragedy.  For variety, work in some Evanescence.  Alice Cooper's "Welcome to My Nightmare" and "Billion Dollar Babies" might have a  workable beat.

Several of Depeche Mode's albums have dark religious themes and s/m overtones -- I could see flogging someone to "A Pain that I'm Used to"...and other tortures to "John the Revelator".  Oh, and if there's any actual sex to take place..."Personal Jesus".

Don't use anything by Type O Negative.  Peter Steele's voice is too damned pretentious.

(obvious disclaimer.  These are MY musical tastes....if you want to flame them, bring beer so we can all have fun)

Other tunes to consider:

Nine Inch Nails "Closer"
AC/DC "Thunderstruck"
Rush: "Temples of Syrinx"

Bach Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor (obvious, but the organ pyrotechnics are still impressive)
Mozart's Requiem ("Dies Irae" is a fitting punishment piece).

If you want to end the scene on a celebratory, ecstatic note, try working in the "Ode to Joy" from Beethoven's 9th for the closing.

How about some fucked-up IDM, such as Venetian Snares' Find Candace?

Or his charmingly-entitled Mutant Cunt Sniffer?

Edited to add: David Bowie - Sense of Doubt:

Poe's album Haunted has some very sexy/angry songs that get me really pumped for play (Wild, Control, Walk the Walk, Not a Virgin Anymore).  It might fit, might not, depending on your dynamic, you'd have to check them out and see.  Her stuff is kind of the pov of an angry, resistant sub who's had an experience w/ a bad dom.  Very much about power struggle.  Incredibly sexy beats and angry, sexy passion.

Also a song from Sarah McLachlan's 80's album (before she got all soft and sappy she was pretty edgy sometimes) Solace: Back Door Man.  Very sensual, incredible imagery very tormented sub song.  Love it.  Listening to this song can make me feel the same way I do when I'm tied up.  Okay, I'm going to have to post the lyrics 'cause I was actually just thinking about this song this weekend and looked them up so here they are:

You open your eyes, look around
You feel the earth it wanders -
Out, from under your feet - the ground
Is not firm but soft and weak - like skin
Under the touch, cannot stop to falter
Now, the damage is done the certainties gone
The spirits altered

[CHORUS]

And now the angry morning
Gives the early signs of warning
You must face alone the plans you make
Decisions they will try to break

Our hands are tied on the table
Maybe you can try at the back door man
While the helpless line up on the doorsteps
'Cause it's all they can do to try to get through

All of your life you've lived in a world as pure
As Eden's sixth day - now all you've been allowed
Is taken away - they will not let you be so proud
And you have felt the fear growing inside
Protest follows far and wide - they'll see how long
It will take 'till you fall - from so much denied
Your soul - it aches relentless from the fear
That they will never guess - so unfair that
They can make you feel so small
And the fear you know is real

Jamshied Sharifi's CD, A Prayer for the Soul of Layla, has some excellent songs suitable for scening, and a couple that are great for aftercare/cooldown.

Dead Can Dance have recorded quite a few songs that make a positive addition to a scene.  Check out any of theri CDs.

David and Steve Gordon have recorded several CDs of excellent music, featuring some incredibly good Native American drumming.  Drum Medicine, and Sacred Drum Visions are two that come to mind.

I second what an earlier poster said about Loreena McKennitt's music, and recommend Live in Paris and Toronto, a two disc set which includes numerous cuts suitable for scening of all types.

As for your scene...I hope that an awsome time is had by A/all.
