Estring is right.  I haven't tracked the story THAT closely, but they initially thought they knew where the miners were trapped and sent in a rescue team.  The shaft fell on them killing I think 4 and injuring 12 more.  Then they slipped a remote control camera in there and found out the miners weren't where they thought.
 
So they did this three more times, not wanting to risk more lives until they knew what was going on.  They couldn't find the miners, and the conditions were too unstable to risk more lives with a more thorough search.  They finally gave up.
 
It's been far too long now.  I'm sorry, but those miners are almost certainly dead.

Status: offline 		My (maternal) grandmother worked his life in mines and passed away as a result of black lungs 2 years before i was born- I have alot of respect for men who put their lives at risk every day..God bless.

Status: offline 		my guess is the owner packs up and leaves town.  the media can elevate or destroy ppl.

it wasnt that long ago we had trapped miners here in PA. it really isnt a news story.  they tend to milk a story ad nausean. till the next one comes along.  what was the owner to do? 

shortly after this 250 miners were trapped in a china mine. they left them there. the folks revolted.

funny how what happens in the US bumps news elsewhere. im sure 1000 other stories could have been told.  but for some \reason ppl tune in on a mine collapse.

i understnad the UK has a tv tax.  my regrets you had and have to hear this endless dribble-it is a circus and -->>>while proporting to value life- actually denies it- hence a circus.

see?

in a nutshell  todays news is a jerry springer show.
