Hi, wanker: Estring is right. I haven't tracked the story THAT closely, but they initially thought they knew where the miners were trapped and sent in a rescue team. The shaft fell on them killing I think 4 and injuring 12 more. Then they slipped a remote control camera in there and found out the miners weren't where they thought. So they did this three more times, not wanting to risk more lives until they knew what was going on. They couldn't find the miners, and the conditions were too unstable to risk more lives with a more thorough search. They finally gave up. It's been far too long now. I'm sorry, but those miners are almost certainly dead.
