BoiJen -> ProDommes: A Techincal/Experience Question (9/7/2007 7:00:16 AM)

Okay so I made a post on another thread about my own experience with singletails (bullwhips, signal whips, snake whips, etc.) and in my experience and that of a couple of well known whip matser's I've had the pleasure of knowing and seeing in action....even with intent to cause serious damage with a singletail they haven't been able to do so.

I state this as fact because these are some sick fuckers who live off of their workshops and presentations on this very matter. It is a fact for me.

Now as Pro-Dommes considering that you are Prfessionals...in your expereince with singletails (if you have any...not everybody plays with them), have you ever caused an injury serious enough for sitches or professional medical attention...anything more sever than a first aid?

Hey there-I do use a singletail but I am very conservative with it and have not seriously injured anyone.  The minute I pick it up I am acutely aware of the damage it can cause me and my sub so I stay very focused, I am learning it from a male Dom who is incredibly skilled.  I have inflicted the worst damage with clothespins on the balls-removing them with a crop.  No emergency room required but a healthy dose of betadine and gauze-oops.

Also, have You ever personally witnessed "emergency room" worthy injuries from a singletail?

Anything in the dungeon can send you to the emergency room if used incorrectly. Anything! We should not suffer the false sense of security that this is "just a little bondage" but that is "the deadly bullwhip."

I've never cracked a singletail in a way as to cause an emergency room visit, but I can imagine how one could. I've broken the skin with a singletail made for that purpose, but that was certainly not deep enough for stitches. I think repeated whipping on the same surface with a long whip could eventually rend some damage, but it seems like a longshot. My concern would be more about the whipper not being experienced enough to know where the whip will land on the whippee (or themselves), and accidentally whipping someone, say, in the eye! This seems improbable, but possible.

The parts I would be most worried about in a whipping from behind would be:
*neck
*spine
*kidneys

If the whipper begins slowly and gains momentum as they feel more in control of the whip, if the whippee has their most crucial parts covered (face to the wall, hands guarding the back of the neck), It seems very improbably indeed. Those kidneys are tougher to injure than we think.

I use My bull whips, My single tail whips also, aswell as a selection of floggers, from soft the severe, never had a fatality yet lol.

That aside, no I whip not to break the skin at all, I like My tools and implements sterile & safe as always..

When I cane that is a different story [:D] I produce a many crimson stripes, and yes I continue :)

MRouge if you're looking or have a client looking for skin breakage I suggest looking into changable crackers. I've found that mostly they're on nylon whips.

Dear BoiJen, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I am not a Pro-Dominatrix however, I have taught whip skills (to include canes which are in the whip group) to Pro-Dominatrix in my area.

I also wish to say, that even though I may be labeled in the Amature Dominatrix due to some silly past need to separate those who don't have clients from ones who do--I am very professional at what I do.  I use Florentine whip work styles with single tails, floggers and canes.

The need to acknowledge that those who do not serve in a capacity of a professional dominatrix are not 'lesser' than pro-dominatrix in the areas of skill, knowledge and the like, must be made.  We all come to our skills and knowledge individually.

Just some thoughts.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

Firstly, I'd like to offer a note of appreciation for LadyHugs' comment: I am not a Pro-Dominatrix however, I have taught whip skills to Pro-Dominatrix in my area.

It has been my experience that professionals do not know everything (and the best tend to exclude specific areas where they don't have good knowledge from their professional offerings) and that everyone can learn something from everyone.

BoiJen, I have talked with five of my friends who work in emergency rooms who are kink-friendly and have asked specifically what they tend to see in the wake of a scene or play session gone wrong. They all immediately said the same thing: Anal insertion without plans for extraction. These are busy NYC ER personnel who have seen it all.

Nobody mentioned suturing up single-tail damage and nobody mentioned whips as an issue in any way. I asked all five if they had ever specifically seen whip damage as an issue and, while three mentioned that they had seen whip marks, none spoke of the need to do anything more than put antiseptic on flesh.

Every single-tail demonstration/lecture I have attended has included the suggestion that one take a feather pillow and use it for target practice before transitioning to human skin. I can specifically remember 10 different lectures with 10 different practitioners and they all recommended a pillow to practice on. The reason is that you get a good indent where your striker lands (if it does) and you can really hone your aim that way. All suggested that practice makes perfect and most recommended that no alcohol or drugs be involved.

I recommend that you have a medkit on hand for anything you plan to do that is serious and that your aftercare include wound and skin abrasion care as well as words of appreciation and hugs for your bottom/submissive.

Thanks for that BoiJen :)

I had all My whips especially made, so I will enquire with My friend who made them  :)

My reason in asking the Professionals is simply because from my own expereince they do this play this on a more regular basis than those of us who aren't "professionals." I teach a singletails class myself. And in my experience even with trying to injur a person with these toys (specifically snake whips and bullwhips) I can't seem to do it. It's not the point of trying to injur someone. But the point in making that even an experienced player when trying isn't going to send someone to the hospital with these toys. Serious injury will not occur. This has been my experience. Not only from me weilding whips but from watching people who have far more experience than I do it as well.

Thank you for the input. I look forward to those who feel they still have something to add or comment on.

PS I hate when I forget to log the Lady in Charge out.
