Bobkgin -> Why is BDSM still a part of your life? (9/8/2007 8:10:12 AM)

In another thread I asked what inspired people to enter the world of BDSM.

This thread is devoted to why you stay in the world of BDSM.

What are the current perks and rewards that sustain your interest in BDSM?

because its fun, why continue doing anything....
if its not fun (and fulfilling and what you want and need as a side note) DON'T DO IT!
or change the who/why/what/where/when/how....

Bdsm is one of my many hobbies.

Ditto- it's fun and enjoyable and fulfilling.

Same reason I still go to the movies.

I prefer the depth of intimacy that ocurs in very direct ways. The clarity of context to one another is rarely found elsewhere. People are extremely forthright in declaring who and what they are. That passion of self is my main attraction.

Ps ...ok it's exhillerating fun too!

I've been minigolfing since I was a young'un and I still enjoy it. I still like ice cream. Why stop doing something simply because you've done it before? Not everybody is an adrenaline junkie needing newer and edgier highs to get to the same place.

BDSM is *still* in my life because I have only recently begun to truly have the freedom to explore it.  I am learning so much about myself.  I also have the most intimate relationship I have ever had before, and I am happy.

You know, this isn't a question I actually gave a lot of thought to before.  It was always enough for me that it was something that held my attention, and I never questioned the why.

I would have to say though that it would be the heightened levels of trust, intimacy, and friendships that are found.  Friends are more likely to keep your secrets and understand you a lot better than many would.  With many of the things we do or want to do, we need to have the time to develop higher levels of trust than you would normally find.

I guess adding openness to the list would also be a good idea.  It's great to be able to converse with like-minded people who aren't going to start judging you based on what interests you.  Particularly nice for those of us who are still exploring!

In the end, I guess it's all about belonging.  I choose to go where I feel I belong, and that place is found within the halls of BDSM.

Vanilla is too boring.
There is a deeper understanding that goes on in this lifestyle and it's a more intense relationship.

sublizzie -> RE: Why is BDSM still a part of your life? (9/8/2007 10:31:58 AM)

I do better at living my life when I spend time in D/s. Even without a primary relationship it helps to keep the knowledge of my submissiveness in my awareness. Having Dominant friends who'll do a little Doming if I need it helps too.

well...i've heard that there are good quallity vanilla men out there...not that i want anything to do with them,..they do nothing for me...i want a Dominant...but...just because i want a Dominant doesn't make all vanilla men bad...

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Why is BDSM still a part of your life? (9/8/2007 11:26:08 AM)

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.  When it is, it is because I want it to be.  When it isn't it is because I have other things going, and it is lower on my priorities.

murmur -> RE: Why is BDSM still a part of your life? (9/8/2007 1:05:49 PM)

the layout is never far from my mind. bdsm is still a part of my life cause...well, the subject itself is an open door to so many things i didnt know of myself...
it's kinda like one of your favorite books that made you learn so much about some things that you'll never want to throw away.
