       That's the beauty of this story, Popeye.  Shooting people on sight because you disagree with their ideas would put you right there with the KKK.  A targeted and completely non-violent counter-protest like this is a wonderful thing.

     Since this was first posted, I've sent the link to a lot of people on all sides of the political spectrum.  What amuses me (in a completely non-scientific way) is that all the replies I've had were from the more conservative types who were howling with laughter and appreciation.


Well, I just think that groups like NAZIs and Al qeada are so dangerous that they shouldn't be allowed to "express" themselves.

Status: offline 		      There is an easy solution here, Popeye.  There's a gay organization called The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who sometimes come out on actions similar to what we had in Knoxville (they might have been an inspiration even).  They wear extreme drag costumes and elaborate make-up.  Where you find the Sisters, not far away will be a group of bad-asses, in full leathers, just in case anything takes a violent turn.  (Not that the Sisters aren't capable themselves mind you, but it's hard to fight in heels and tight skirts.)

     We'll get you set up as security for the Clowns, and as long as it remains free speech vs. free speech, you can just drink beer and look disgusted.  As soon as a Klown goes after a Clown physically though, you play your way.

    Seem fair?

I believe in free speech but groups like that only have one purpose, to promote hate.
I realise that it can be a "slippery slope" but when you know that a certain group's purpose is evil and that they want to kill people what happens if you don't stop them and they kill someone?
There is absolutely no reason for anyone to be walking around in a NAZI uniform in this country.
I bet if some of the older veterans saw that shit they'd unload a gun into them.
I mean what do people think NAZI's are all about?
Or al qeada?
Or the KKK?
They aren't civic groups.

I think it was Dennis miller who said something to the effect of: the same Constitution that protects your right to believe what ever crazy nonsense you want to also protects my right to ridicule you mercilessly.

Status: offline 		This reminds me of something that happened back when I went to school in Boston.  A freind of mine was on public access radio and he and I were taking "calls" as we always did when we were horsing around. My friend,mind you, was a 6'5 black guy, and a jew. We had one caller who accused him of being in the KKK for some of the views he held (we are pretty sure the dude was drinking...)
So the response, which made me nearly fall out of my chair:
Dammit you are right.  Im black, Im KKK and just to prove my point, Im gonna come lynch MYSELF in your front yard!
