Does anyone have bamboo flooring and if so do you like it better than traditional hardwood flooring?

We put down this kind and love it but it took 4 months to get and was easy to install.  Its warm and easy to keep clean, nice to walk on bare foot and just a wonderful floor.  http://www.ifloor.com/item_306384/bamboo-flooring/springwood/longstrip-click-bamboo/horizontal-carbonized-medium.html  I really would do it again even though some others are cheaper this is wonderful flooring.

I really like bamboo flooring. I first installed it in my house while I was living in New Zealand. Now that Im back in the States Ive put it down in my dining room, foyer, and contecting hallway. Its really great, and its still somewhat unique as not a lot of people have it yet.

how hard is it for a novice to install?

If you`re talking about the new pre-finished,T&G bamboo flooring, you`ll have one of the hardest, toughest floors you can buy.

BTW,most of the bamboo comes from China. That`s probably why it`s so cheap.

I had some parts of the house done with bamboo. It works wonderfully. If you do it yourself, and it is very easy to do- just follow the instructions, make sure you mix the planks from all the boxes you get, that way all the colors are well mixed, unless you want a more gradient color look in your rooms ( lighter colored planks on one side, darker on the other ). There are a LOT of color variations to choose from, so don't just visit Home Depot, go see what others have to offer too.

FYI- bamboo is an earth friendly "crop" the bark regenerates in 7 years- and the  tree is not chopped down to harvest such.

We love the bamboo flooring. We used the T&G prefinished stuff...very easy to install, in fact my 7 year old son installed the entire living room floor (16'x23') in one afternoon. I was 8 months pregnant and couldnt get up and down onto the floor very well....all I did was cut the end peices to fit and he did the rest of the work. We are planning on doing our hallway and dining room to match sometime this winter. Its very easy to keep clean (which is a requirement with me and 4 boys in the house), comfortable to walk on barefoot, durable to kids crashing cars on it, and looks beautiful.

i considerred this type of floor- i have tall ceilings- and thought to run radient heat hoses under a floor- that i elevate a few inches in teh master bedroom.  radient heat from the floor is pretty much the best heat- an your feet absorb it as you stand- heat absorbs into your body.  nice when it is 10 below windchill
