Dead Can Dance Steve Roach Vidna Obmana Black Tape for a Blue Girl The Protagonist --the ambient stuff, allows you to hear moaning and squealing while creating great soundtracks... Near Meth Experience Spade+Archer (personal favorite) old Front 242 most anything from Zoth Ommog label Coil, especially Love's Secret Domain and Consequences of Raising Hell techstep, glitch step, drill & bass, illbient almost anything by Wumpscut --stuff with a beat that blends well with scene, but doesn't dominate completely (you can still hear a partner) There's loads more to choose from...

Here's some more chilled out stuff. Hardcore can also work when you're getting to the real nitty-gritty, but these'll work whatever you're doing. (preferably the Peel session version) Massive Attack - Karmacoma (et al) Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentlemen we are Floating in Space A lot of the instrumental stuff from Bowie's Heroes or Low albums Chris Morris - Blue Jam (head-fuckingly strange ambient comedy radio series) FSOL - Lifeforms Stravinsky's Firebird Suite Any Sigur Rós
