As of late, the version of Nymphetamine (I believe Fix?) that Cradle of Filth put on the Resident Evil 2 soundtrack has sounded absolutely delicious to me in the context of scening. Other than that I usually do go for the rough stuff: Rammstein, some Marilyn Manson, a couple of NIN tracks, :wumpscut:, Psyclon Nine, Funker Vogt, Grendel, etc. Although for the softer scenes, Tori Amos's song "Carnival" off of the Mission Impossible (...2?) soundtrack works wonders, as does Rob Dougan and Hooverphonic's "No More Sweet Music" album. If you want to go uber-cheesy, Hate Dept. did a cover of Depeche Mode's "Master and Servant" a few years back for the Newer Wave compilation series that's groovetastic. On an amusing and related note, I remember one of my ex's and I used to sit together before a scene and compile a playlist. One night we apparently fucked up and were in the middle of a scene when the movie version of "What's This?" from The Nightmare Before Christmas started blaring out of the speakers. We tried to keep the momentum for a good thirty seconds before we couldn't hold straight faces any longer and busted up laughing our asses off. Termination of scene complete.
