I was at work when we heard over the radio that a plane had hit.We were stunned and stopped working and just listened to everything.After the towers collapsed the boss told us to go home and be with the once we love.

I was at work, taking reservations for a car rental company. My first clue was that we started holding nearly 200 calls at around 10 AM, and the number was rising quickly. Then a customer told me what happened and the reason why we were slammed packed busy. I didn't get to see any of the news coverage until later that night because they unplugged the TV in the break room. We ended up with over 600 calls on hold for the next week.

I was at work in Norwalk, CT. (around 40 miles away) My colleague's wife called in with the news that an airplane had hit the WTC. He was fishing around on the 'net for more info where I saw the first building burning. I realized that had been no lightplane, contrary to the news reports- but when the second airplane flew in, I came to the same realization that most people did- this was a deliberately planned attack. My sister worked as an EMT out of Brooklyn, she was panicking and requested I get to the house. I did- although my boss had a shit fit and docked me a day's pay. (He was like that- a greedy SOB- I understand greed very well now- wish I didn't.)

A bunch of the folks I sail with were lots closer- one of them was approaching the building where he worked when the planes hit- he took off running in the other direction. Another guy basically had his office wiped out- he was lucky not to have been there when the airplane hit- and another guy was watching people jump from the Amex building across the street.

I'm still pissed off. I don't find anything all that complicated in the terrorists motivations- there are children who like to build, and other children who take pleasure in destroying what others have made, often because they're incapable of building something themselves. It's very human, but that's no excuse.

i was in my bedroom. the day was picture perfect until that. inceredable weather in teh east. my sister was the 1 caller - she called from Chicago to see if we were ok. i told her my fears- on the plane lost over Pennsylvania= and we were sobbing by the end of the call. my fear was the plane would hit a nuclear plant./ 12 of them here. or suburban sprawal- even tho it looks rural PA is 2nd most densely populated state. anyhow we both were sobbing. she called form her kob- which was a no no;

I was takeing a bath after being at work all night long. I then set in front of the TV watching the New York news, till I couldnt take it anymore. Call my best Gay Friend and we went to the Mall to do some Normal Everyday American shopping. On the way to the Mall the second tower came down. My friend was so scared the Texas would be hit next. I just said that we are in a mall, no one is going to hit a mall on the North side of FortWorth. All the stores in the Mall had there radios on to the News channels. Even at a Mall you could forget what was happen in the North. Made it home then went to bed, got up and went to work that night. People were dying but I couldnt do anything about it from Texas so I just Prayed that they would find peace.

I was on vacation that day. My ex-husband called me and woke me up to tell me to turn on the news. I told I would later. He said go now. He never sounded like that before. I turned on the news. I stood in my den in shock for the rest of the day crying my eyes out.
When the second plane hit the tower, I knew that was not an American pilot flying in that building. An American pilot would have died first.
Makes me said to think about it.
My song for that occasion is "I am Proud to be an American." It is perfect for that in my opinion.
Lord Bless the ones who died and the families of them and soldiers still dying for this cause.

I was standing on a train platform, swearing left and right for missing my train by a few minutes. I took the same train every day for a year, and this was the firs ttime I had ever missed it. It was the first time I was going to be late.
The platform I was on had a very nice view of the City skyline... and i watched as a small puff of smoke exploded from the side of the towers. Every radio station we were listeing to broke with the story, and as we watched a second explosion puffed up. Then, there were no more towers. Just like that.
I stopped swearing about missing my train... the train I should have been on was crushed under the collapsing towers.
Funny how that works. I never missed a day of work, I was never late... except this once.
I will never forget watching a skyline change in minutes.
