Just finished the book last night, and it had me crying by the end, too. I can understand how the sad ending (doing my best to be vague just in case someone hasn't finished yet) was necessary to move the story line along so that the 7th book can focus more on Voldemort vs. Harry alone. Still, though...
I have to admit that I'm also hoping it's not real and that it will be undone in the next book. It's going to be torture waiting to see. And not the good kind, either.

We don't want to spoil the ending for those that are actually going to read it so perhaps you should just google it but then keep the answer to yourself so that you don't wreck it for those who actually want to read the story

I've been so busy running all over the place for the last two days that I haven't been able to pick it up again since I first got it. You guys all have me so nervous now!!!!!!!!! But thanks for not telling. It's been hard fending off my friends who are almost all done with it. Agh, the suspense is killing me! This would make a very good punishment!

I want them, too! Maybe we can share...oh, and I now wanna let a Bludger at my sister for calling me (waking me up no less) to tell me one little thing about HBP and tease me. Damn sadist, she is.

As long as I can tie up Draco and defile him in such sadistic and sensual ways... -swoons... twitches and reaches for the crop... Giddy squeal of excitement-

I -heart- Draco.

I waited to even open anything past the OP until I had read it. I finished it yesterday. Geez! I won't say a whole lot, just in case there's someone else like me out there who didn't want to see any discussion before reading it, but will say that J.K. Rowling better have started that last book! She's got a LOT of wrapping up to do in it!

cello, who's a bit disappointed in Snape... Alan Rickman plays him WAY hot but I don't think I could f*** him now!

I saw lord of the rings btw and it sucked. By the end of the first one I was bored out of my friggen skull.

I didn't even make it through the first one... I fell asleep! Luckily, the person watching it with me fell asleep too, so neither one of us felt bad about just taking it out of the DVD player when we woke up! LOL

I read all of Tolkien books, including The Hobbit, and had a really hard time getting through them. I didn't enjoy them at all.

Don't be so sure that Snape is really bad, or that anyone is really dead.

Think Gandalf...

You are right Taggard, I know that the story is far from done. And I have an inkling that things HAD to happen the way they did.
It was still hard to read though... she is quite a storyteller.

I think her growth as a writer over the series has been remarkable. It reminds me a lot of Joyce, though I am not entirely convinced her growth is as much of a literary device as his was...

That said, I have very much enjoyed the books.

I read min in 10 hours the Sunday after it came out (I though tthat was fast until I saw CaliopePurples note).

Have enjoyed the whole series. Not the fluff I imagined whan a friend recommended them.

And Taggard may be on to something with his Gandalf reference methinks...
