There's loads of information on the web, but it really depends upon what you are interested in.  There's also a great deal of good information right here on the forums.  Spend some time browsing through old threads and reading the new ones... don't be shy and jump in to ask questions where you have them.

You didn't get the official handbook when you joined???

edited to add...domiguy is the head of the welcoming committee.
If you email him on the other side I'm sure he'll mail out your handbook pronto.

Sweet1Maybe4U -> RE: New to all this jazz! (9/13/2007 8:46:01 PM)

ive learned alot from these forums and read thru them as often as i can for tips on all kinds of things.
i also read www.castlerealm.com when i first started out. It helped me understand many different points on Doms and subs. Maybe it would help you also.
hugs

Handbook?

jaymckenas -> RE: New to all this jazz! (9/13/2007 8:47:18 PM)

Welcome Aqua----

Basically my advice would be to read the forums, though that's already been covered...

It's impossible to just outline what D/s is, it's personalized case by case---- so wander around, see what you see and see where your interests lie.

Best wishes on your journey,

Jayson

Welcome to the forums. I'm just reiterating what everyone else has already said. Read the forums. If you have a question don't be afraid to ask.

And I checked your profile, I'm in Iowa too. Always good to have people from the state here.

Another thing that a lot of people will recommend, but I was too scared to do, is to attend local munches and activities. When I finally did get around to it, about a year after I first wandered onto CM, it was fantastic. It allowed me to attend some parties and the local dungeon and to watch and ask questions and get an idea of what was going on without feeling pressured to participate.

MaamJay -> RE: New to all this jazz! (9/14/2007 5:36:23 AM)

Wow BeachMystress, that even topped LA's series of links! Lots of great sites there aquarius, read and learn and then bring questions that arise from your reading to the boards. Doing it in that order tends to elevate your questions from the typical repetitive newbie ones to a more interesting level ... which means you get more interesting responses! That said, I still stand by the motto that the only truly dumb question is the one not asked.

When you finally do get around to munches and local groups, Ames is the home of Cuffs, http://www.stuorg.iastate.edu/cuffs/ an ISU based BDSM education group. Even if you don't attend college there they may allow you to attend the meetings and workshops. It's a good way to learn with others around your same age and experience level.

You can also check http://www.drkdesyre.com/meetppl/orgs/orgsiowa.html for other orgs near you.

There is tons of good information here on CM. Use the search feature at the top of the page to find topics you might be interested in, just change the options to topics and subject.[:)]
