matureSubFetish -> what kind of proper gift to buy ? (9/14/2007 4:18:21 AM)

Humble greetings to all the Mistresses. Salutations to all servants.

In about a month from now, i will be meeting a Mistress here in Montreal as She will be visiting for a whole week. Our meet should be only social within a vanilla public place. She as mentioned to me, that it is birthday during
that week. Up to now, there as been only a few exchanges of emails. It
will be my very 1st experience of meeting a Madame from Collarme by the
way. In order to simply Please Her, i want to buy Her a little gift..

My question is: what kind of gift would be proper and respectful to Her and
for the occasion ?

Thank You to all of You for directing me, please. This is very serious.

Does she indicate any preferences on her profile? Did she provide you with any suggestions or hints in those e-mails?

When you say a little gift, what does that mean? Size? Monetary value?

What is appropriate and respectful for a birthday/vanilla setting/first meet can vary from one woman to the next.  In my opinion, a small token of appreciation during a first meet should be standard - add a birthday on top of that and perhaps something a tad nicer would be appropriate.

I would not suggest a fetish toy or any such thing since she mentioned it will be a vanilla setting.  Flowers are usually nice, but some women are allergic.

Personally, for a birthday/first visit, I would love a trip to the salon for a manicure/pedicure and then a nice evening out in a relaxing environment so that I could have a better chance to get to know a prospective sub/slave.  However, that might be a bit too pricey for your budget.  If that's the case, perhaps offer to perform the manicure/pedicure yourself before your evening out...if of course you know how to do this.

How long before you meet?  If you have some time, try to find out from her the things that float her boat.  I'm sure you can be subtle in trying to find out the things she likes so as not to spoil the surprise...or, you could go the direct route and flat out ask her if there is something in particular she'd enjoy.

for a first meeting, yes, flowers are nice...how about a blown glass flower if you dont know if she has allergies?  or a stuffed animal, or just about *anything* that shows you put some thought into your decision.

I would say it entirely depends on how well you know this lady, and how long you have known her. If this is a reasonably recent aquaintence the gift should be symbolic rather than lavish. Obviously these are my views, and since evryone is different you may get completely different ideas from someone else.

I'd say stay clear of flowers, she is visiting and you don't know if she likes them or have a place to enjoy them. Also, don't buy perfume, unless she has specifically told you which ones she like. Personally I would be very uncomfortable recieving a lavish gift from someone I didn't know, but something small would be lovely.

How about a box of hand made chocolates? Can be quite expensive, but rarely a "too much" gift. If she, herself, doesn't appreciate Chocolate (highly unlikely) it is always a brilliant gift which can be "passed on".

Actually, I've had this happen this year.  I met a boy for the first time on My birthday weekend bash.  Totally unexpected that he gave Me a gift.  Something simple...he's from a different country, so he brought Me a picture...nothing vulgar...it had to do with his culture though.  I was touched and framed it to hang in My bedroom.  he knew I was a history major in college so it worked.
Many gifts I've received over the years have had to do with My personality or likes and dislikes.  Sometimes an off comment.  I had a boy give Me a tiara because I teased him about wanting one.  Again, unexpected gifts that you've thought about....that seems suited to Her are a wonderful way to start.

Some women also do not like cut flowers because they don't like to see them dying in the vase.

I have received a number of different types of gifts from submissives...... and Doms also, for that matter.

Flowers are great, small tokens purchased at a giftshop somewhere, fruit baskets, stuffed animals, new cuffs, leg irons, shoes, leather dresses, stockings, floggers, books, tarot decks, oils, chocolates, and even jewelry.

Sometimes I will let them know what is on my wish list, other times they just decide to get something on a whim.  I love it all.

I'd see if you can get anything she might like out of her in conversation. Barring that, you can't go wrong with chocolate. Maybe a CD from an artist she likes or a movie, maybe a book (I have a lot on my amazon for that purpose, she may too).

If you're a bit more comfortable with her, some sort of toy (I personally would be ecstatic for rope, she might like new cuffs, etc) may be a fun idea.

Since it's just a new getting-to-know-you meetup, I would suggest keeping it sweet but simple.  Flowers or something similar that she mentioned she likes.  Aim to just show you care but don't risk going overboard.

You can get her a little key ring from Tiffany for as little as $75. For  birthday momento that would be perfect. Not only would she feel totally spoiled since most women will never own anything from Tiffany, but she will think of you every time she sees it, which, if she puts her keys on it, will be multiple times a day.

Those little blue Tiffany boxes make the ladies melt.

Kinda of anti-materialistic here, but for starters buy Her a meal...  It's as much a gift to you as it is to Her.  Second, make sure the gift comes from the heart and not the pocketbook.  Write her a poem or short story.  Put some thought into it.  Something has attracted you to the person to want to meet them, express that to them somehow...

If you really like that key ring (and I personally love it), it is available from Amazon.com for $35, sure it won't have the "little blue box", but you do the math. Don't get me wrong, getting a Tiffany box is an awsome experience. Just offering a suggestion, if you need to consider your budget.

You can't go wrong with a full length fur, I always say...especially in Montreal...lol.

What about a nice keyring....it could be engraved or be of something like an initial or emblem. Plus the added bonus that it can be felt (in a pocket) and "worn" with anything.

Sweetheart, a kiss on the hand may be quite continental, but diamonds are a girl's best friend.  [8D]

YourhandMyAss -> RE: what kind of proper gift to buy ? (9/20/2007 5:40:18 PM)

I don't wear earrings, and I dislike earrings, so they'da just wasted a ton of money if they'd gave me earrings.
