"Not eating enough is actually my problem " Same here. I went on a hyper-Adkins years ago and my stomach shrunk. Also I try to eat only once a day. As such I try to make it count. Last night I had a double meat antipasta salad (that means with lettuce etc.) with chicken strips added. The only carbs I got was from the case of beer I drank. (jk) If you think you don't eat enough, fine, but I think most people eat too much. Plenty of people though have their metabolism in high gear. Their digestion is sped up as well and I think that is a bad thing. Your food has a long way to go before your body gets all the minerals and other nutrients out of it. When you slow the process down a bit, I think it works better. I used to eat like pig, but many fasts later and a whole lot of changes has made me this way. I can comfortably skip a day now, even three. I don't fast anymore because I do not have to, I have achieved my goal. Unlike most 47 year old Men I am not gaining weight, and I have all my teeth and (brown) hair. So if you think you are not eating enough there must be a reason, do you feel run down ? You need to eat enough to cover your current energy expenditure, any more is either excreted or goes straight to your (insert too fat body part here). Literally, I do eat more on days when I am more active, I let my body tell me when I am full. And although I seek out flavorful foods, I do not relish in that flavor. I believe many people have become slaves to their taste buds, it is hard to get them to even think about nutrition. They say "But I like this", as if that is a valid dietary concern. Put it this way, everyone I know with a sweet tooth has alot of tooth problems, and that is only IF they still have any teeth. Last month a buddy of mine, NINE YEARS MY JUNIOR had to go to the ER to get a tooth pulled because it may have killed him. But he has to have his candy and his sugared drink all the time. In the meantime I don't even have to brush my teeth. Of course I do clean them with my tongue, but others cling to what the dentists say, brush constantly and all that, even if they're only brushing one tooth. It didn't dawn on them that it did not work. If you are a minimalist eater like me, I think we are onto something. The process might not be perfect, but to eat less but eat well sounds like a valid plan doesn't it ? This attitude has led to a prejudice in me. Not a really bad one, but when I see someone who is obese, my first thought is that they cannot control their impulses. What would any sane person think ? Now here is the problem with that, perhaps it was years ago that they gained the weight, and maybe now they have grown out of the oral stage of development, but are stuck with this spare tire to fit a Mack truck, and cannot lose it. They could be eating 1,000 calories a week and still lose it very slowly. That is the biggest danger, once on it tends to stay on. To those who really have changed and are fighting the results of their past, I have to apologize for my prejudice, but if you weigh 350 pounds and I see you eat a whole large pizza, what other conclusion can I draw ? Either way, that is why the training should start early, never get the spare tire. Parents should never use any form of food as a reward or punishment. And if the kids are getting fat, feed them less. Conciously avoid sugar, although you can't do that 100%, something is better than nothing. Conciously avoid table salt, and the earlier you start the easier it is. Many of us came out of households where the Parents had misguided notions about what is healthy. But with all the misinformation out there, and yes it was that way 50 years ago as well, how can you expect them to make the right decisions ? What I mean is that in many cases they DID make informed decisions, but the information they recieved was not good. Therefore the decisions were flawed, and we have grown to be the fattest, most unhealthy country on the planet, with the highest medical budget and the most drug use. I believe that if one does not have a physical labor intensive job, one meal a day should suffice. Just make it a good one. I think, since I blew all my money last night, I'll dig through the freezer and make a nice stirfry tonight. It has been awhile and I could stand some rice. Been about a month since I had rice I think. T
