YourhandMyAss -> when the term erotic horror comes up in movies does it mean soft core porn along with a movieplot? (9/15/2007 8:28:05 AM)

I see it all the time these movies being dubbed as erotic horror movies, and James said it's soft core porn worked into a movie. Now if that's true I'll save myself the trouble because I despise soft core,  I am a hard coreist.

Which horror movies are you talking about exactly?

I don't know the answer to this question but I can tell you that my enjoyment of a woman's pain and seeing her blood absolutely comes from 70's and 80's horror movies. We didn't have the internet of coarse. Closest we got to seeing a woman nude during those formative years was the occasional scared and bloody nude woman running through the forest as some guy with a chain saw chased her. Sex, fear and blood for me have been intertwind ever since. Fortunately I've never done anything to anyone who wasn't concenting and I never would. But those movies still get me hot. I'm not sure what erotic horror is but the term makes me hot anyway. [:D]

Im not quite sure what movies you are talking about...

Most horror movies made today actually dont have much nudity in them. Some do. But overall the majority of horror fans actually look at nudity as dumbing the film down unless it is used in a certain way to create a certain effect.

Look at Hitchcock's "Psycho" for example. The shower-stabbing scene is probably the most famous scene in cinematic history. Yet it shows no nudity at all and doesn't show the knife piercing the skin. But for whatever reason, this scene terrified audiences for decades. The scene is based completely on perception. Your brain is filling in the things that the film doesnt show and you think you are seeing more than you really are. That is a sharp contrast to horror films of the 70s and 80s where it was common to show gore and some torture off-screen. Today's movies push the envelope further by actually showing all of the torture which has provoked the "torture porn" label. Films like Hostel or Saw are actually based specifically on the torture, and that has never really been done before.

First thing came to my mind is a bunch of sociopaths watching slasher horror movies getting hot and horny.

I saw a great Danish (if i remember correctly) film recently called "Naboer" which roughly transaltes as "next door" or "neighbour"..  It was fantastic.  I think a few David Lynch scenes, think "Blue Velvet", might qualify to some degree as well.

basically with embrace of the vampire, she showed her boobs a lot, and they very nearly have sex several times, passionate kissing moaning groaning sighing, then he's interupted, but I didn't stay  for the whole movie.

"Cat People" (starring David Bowie and Natassa Kinsky) has a great bondage scene featuring Kinsky. It's been 20+ years since I saw the movie, but I still vividly remember it. Highly erotic within a horror context.

Soft core or whatever it may be called, but I still love the old Hammer horrors, Twins of Evil etc etc, and some old British Lion horrors from the 1960's

For me, in my formative years, that was about it for any kind of moving porn image.

I just loved the typical theme of vampires, attractive tales of sex and blood, all those dark castles and dungeons, tales set in times past.

East European vampire fayre is good, especially some that come out of the czech republic.

My Owner is the photographer working on a poster for an indy erotic/horror movie.  The poster turned out extremely well, but we have not seen the movie yet.  So, even though I don't watch erotica, I really hope we watch it when it comes out.  Just because she worked on the poster. :-p

bipolarber -> RE: when the term erotic horror comes up in movies does it mean soft core porn along with a movieplo (12/5/2007 7:58:41 PM)

erotic horror. That's usually a code word for a movie about "Barely Legal Co-Ed Vampire Lesbian Cheerleaders." Plot? What plot?

The only horror film I've ever watched and gotten turned on by was "The Hunger."
