Termyn8or -> Do not eat list (9/15/2007 9:36:02 AM)

Topics relating to diet crop up here from time to time, and I dunno if this is quite "Health and Safety" material.

We all know what we hate, what we would never eat because we simply can't stand it or possibly even the thought of eating it. For me it is raisins. I can't stand the little snot looking MFs, even to look at them, or see someone eat them. The best thing I can say about raisins is that they have been found to be a causitive factor in appenicitis. And that's the best thing I can say about them. I'll have my grapes fresh if you please.

But that is not what this is about. While I'm sure someone will mention something that grosses them out, this is more about what is unhealthy. I have a list of things I will not eat for health reasons. That does not mean I do not like them, it means I think they are bad for the body. Others have similar lists.

I may miss a few, but here goes.

*Sugar. I think it is the number one killer in America.

*Table salt. You can find out why online.

*Anything hydrogenated. That means Crisco, margarine, all of it, and anything made with it.

*Empty carbs. Stuffing is for dead turkeys. If had had pasta but nothing to go on it I would choose to remain hungry.

The list is not very comprehensive, but those are my major nonos. Just wondering who else has such a hard list of four or five things that they will not eat because they believe it to be unhealthy. I didn't mention fat because we need fat. Too much fat is no good, but we need some.

Note that I will not use any sugar substitute either, I just don't like things sweet. I also will not take pills, even supplements. I will take a colloidal mineral supplement, but that is it.

So what kind of master list do you have ? Or will you just eat anything ?

T

Just be careful of them vaginal warts they are the same and as contagious as normal warts but in a different place.

earthycouple -> RE: Do not eat list (9/15/2007 11:05:37 AM)

*S* e01n knows my list and that's really all that matters (it's a long ass list).

In the spirit of sharing though....the one food I hate most is asparagus.  Put it in my mouth; Masticated it one time and puked up everything I'd eaten that past month.  It was horrible and I will never eat it again...that was 25 some odd years ago.

the little packets of silicon they put in non-food products clearly labeled "DO NOT EAT" cause they look sooo tasty...

LMAO! a good % of straight men are all talk on eating this. put your money where your mouth is and PERFORM!! "foot stomp"

I’ve always wondered what you are supposed to do with the silicon packets. Are you supposed to open the packet and sprinkle the silicon into the shoes or does the silicon work to do what ever it does from within the packet. How long are you supposed to keep the silicon packet in the shoes for? Will the shoes last longer if you walk around with an uncomfortable blob of silicon under your foot? Sooo many questions in life soooo little time to find the answers.

chellekitty -> RE: Do not eat list (9/15/2007 11:39:05 AM)

they should have a 1-800 help line phone number printed on the silicon packets....just for shits and giggles...to see who calls and what they ask....

Damn, that's gotta be a depressing diet [&:] Although, i can't say i actually know the hydrogen status of anything i eat... i assume most of my food has hydrogen in it, since most of my food also has either salt or sugar, but i'm not certain.

i do keep strictly organic, though... no silicon-based foods on MY table!

hydonated yaa- do you know margerine is one chemical away from plastic?

FullCircle -> RE: Do not eat list (9/15/2007 2:53:49 PM)

It is?

murmur -> RE: Do not eat list (9/15/2007 2:55:16 PM)

Commercial bakery (Jo-Louis, etc)
Fried food.
Sushi
Burger King.
dried raisins - someone once told me (with scientific proof) that because the raisins were dry, there were nano-organical worms in it. I never touched them again.

murmur -> RE: Do not eat list (9/15/2007 2:56:19 PM)

I heard it was oil heated - cooled down - and re-heated again. Cant be good.

edited to add : There once was a study made about plastic food. They put Mcdo frieds, margarine and other normal stuff such as fruits or vegetables near them on a table for an experimentation of a month.
Guess what. All the normal food begun to rotten, except the margarine and the Mcdo fries. Cause the food was made of normal elements and therefore, reacted normally to time and germs etc, as the opposite happened to the Mcdo fries and margarine.

I tried to search about this study and never find it...but it made me think.

When I was younger I had sandwiches without the stuff not through health fears but because it took ages to put the stuff on. You also have to question if you need it for spreads etc. It makes jam all gooey and waters down the taste.

earthycouple -> RE: Do not eat list (9/15/2007 3:08:02 PM)

ok...I wanted to find out about margarin and plastic....*S* so I did a search and found out all about the Margarin Act!  Very interesting stuff so I thought I'd share it...has nothing to do with what/how it's made..but how it evolved into what we know today!  Stand proud margarin...you've had a tough life *S*

Except for an ocassional indulgence, i follow the South Beach way of eating, which doesn't allow the following:

foods with more than a few grams of added sugar
foods with white flour, white rice and other processed grains (only eat whole grains and brown rice)
potaotes except for sweet potatoes
trans fats
full fat dairy products
high fat meats
fruit juices

my doc told me to cut down on protein..........was drinking too much of it i guess[8D]

sappatoti -> RE: Do not eat list (9/15/2007 5:43:26 PM)

You should also probably put sappatoti on the "do not eat" list. There's anecdotal evidence to show that eating sappatoti may result in scrambled neural pathways.

Holy shit! I've created a monster! [;)]

http://www.foodtimeline.org/ - very handy if ever you find yourself wondering who the hell might have been the first person to stick *that* in his mouth...

I try to eat consciously... which means I've thought about why I eat what I eat. Which puts me much at odds with other folks who eat vegan or vegetarian... I find Gerard de Nerval's choice of pet quaint and not the least bit provocative. A really great discussion on our choices of animals to eat is in "The Decadent Cookbook" - might be able to find a copy used at your local Half Price-type place...

And yes, since I'm working on being earthycouple's "Mr. Belvedere with Benefits," yeah... it's pretty much all on me.
