This is Darcy. I am humbled by Aneirin's kind words. A long time friend of the.dark I knew much about him from her glowing and positive descriptions of him and his work, and I am pleased to have finally made his acquanitance and spent not one, but two very enjoyable and inspirational weekends in his company. His expertise in the field of photography improved my own knowledge beyond measure, and his skill with his hands, in crafting chainmail and in repairing my ailing vacuum cleaner [:D] were inspiring to watch, particularly as I am a craftsman of the mind, and therefore greatly admire those who are skilled with their hands, and to whom disecting and assembling machines is second nature. I got to wear my first chainmail shirt, which was like jumping into an ice cold pond when putting it on, but which then felt like a second skin. We visited the ruins of Clophill Church, a fascinating and inspiring site. We went to Minsden, another well hidden ruin with a long and interesting history. We visited London, Aneirin's first time in almost three decades which allowed me to see it as a tourist for the first time in an age (we live nearby and so visit as 'natives' frequently). The multicultural and diverse markets of Camden Town, the engineering magnificence of the London Eye and the Jubillee Bridges, the hustle and bustle of Soho, and the delights of several hostelries, including the famous Sherlock Holmes pub just off Trafalgar Sqaure - all were enjoyed by the three of us, and provided memories and photographs aplenty. We talked of politics, of religion, of movies, music and the arts, and shared many a glass of ale, as well as some wonderful meals effortlessly created by the.dark - I also indulged us by making full English breakfasts on each of our mornings together. A rare treat, but well worth the effort. In short (well, not so short, actually, but then I am a writer [;)]), the past two weekends have been fantastic, and experiences that I wish to repeat at some time in the near future. Thanks to Aneirin for his wonderful company, and for the 'chav flail' that I now proudly possess, wrought from chain links by his own fair hands. I know that I also speak for the.dark but I am pleased and proud to call you friend. [8D] Darcy
