feline -> Physical or Emotional? (7/18/2005 11:50:09 AM)

Ok so I stole this from Gloria's post, I knew she wouldn't use it. [sm=rolleyes.gif]

Which is more tolerable for you physical pain or emotional pain?

Personally, I'm not a masochist. Never have been, probably never will be. But if I am emotionally hurting I can be beaten black and blue and not feel a thing. I know this from experience. NOTHING hurts worse for me then hurting on the "inside".

Yes I'd have to say physical pain is more tolerable.

Ask me the question again when I am in intense physical agony.

hello feline.

i am not a girl. but as a dude,...?

i guess emotional. but that too is merely only a concept. since "I" keep myself detached, i am not open to attack emotionally.
clean. clear. cut n dry.

emotional pain is the worse, with emotional strength you can deal with physical pain, with severe emotional pain such as depression you can be left in a black pit of despair

and lonewolf what does not a girl but a dude have to do with it?

i agree feline, without a doubt physical pain is more tolerable for me, i know that if i am hurting emotionally i want to be beaten intensely on the outside to draw away or bring out the pain i am feeling inside.....it helps

Hello There,
Physical Pain can be welcome as I find it consensual and sexy for me with certain individuals. Emotional pain is somthing that can teach me lessons, but is not welcome.
I'd rather even break my leg than have someone I love break my heart.
Sincerely,
sub suzanne

Physical pain can be dealt with, many times because of a strong personality, high pain threshold, pain killers, etc. Examples: surgery, accidents, flogging, whipping, beating, etc.

Emotional pain is deeper. It can be deeper than any wound inflicted. Many times it goes all the way to one's soul. Emotional requires at the least a close personal friend(s) to confide in. Seeking guidance is key, as one has to admit there is a problem for the problem to be solved. Examples: Death, divorce, breakup of a long term relationship, stress, depression.

mandineko -> RE: Physical or Emotional? (7/18/2005 2:15:26 PM)

physical is easier to deal with cause i put myself through far to much emotional pain.

lonewolf05 -> RE: Physical or Emotional? (7/18/2005 9:36:06 PM)

because..........females are MORE emotional and more tending toward tears and breaking down and guys just put up with shit and keep it inside.

ya know?

males are NOT prone to emotional breakdown like females, crying and wailing and carrying on.

ok
back to thread.

Physical pain, to me, is a method of dealing with emotional pain. I'm a self-injurer. It isn't a particularly good coping method, but I'm working on it.

Emotional pain is -always- worse. Physical pain can take my mind off it.

Seconded. Generalizations, while they might hit fairly frequently, are still kinda silly, IMHO.

littleone35 -> RE: Physical or Emotional? (7/19/2005 8:23:03 AM)

Physical pain is muvh eaiser to handle. Usually with ohysical pain something can be done to trear it. Now emotional pain that is very hard to deal with and treat. So if i had to choose i wouls choose physical (even though i do not like any pain)

RumpusParable -> RE: Physical or Emotional? (7/19/2005 11:36:49 AM)

agreed with many: physical is easier.

TwistedSin -> RE: Physical or Emotional? (7/19/2005 4:10:56 PM)

Looks like I'm going to have to agree with almost everyone here; Physical pain is much easier to cope with than emotional pain. It is easier to use your mind to block out reality, and to somewhat deal with the physical pain. With emotional pain, it's much harder to block out.

Hissweetshiv -> RE: Physical or Emotional? (7/20/2005 6:42:31 AM)

Physical pain is far easier to tolerate. A physical bruise will fade in a week or two - an emotional wound may take years.
~declines to respond to Wolf's generalization~

Physical pain is much more tolerable---and in some cases, begged for.

dechala -> RE: Physical or Emotional? (7/20/2005 11:59:43 AM)

i'm sorry i was too busy "crying, breaking down and wailing" because i'm not a "dude" to answer your question properly..i think i must've broken a nail or something.Jeez...sorry

Now to seriuosly answer the OP i would definately take physical pain over emotional pain any day.Scars heal a wounded heart takes much longer in my opinion
