No, not prongs for me, I just enjoy the idea of dilating, and did think about adapting a surgical steel speculum.

But whatever, I am not into the harsh stuff, if I manage to create something similar, then it will be wholly for pleasure of the recipient, no damage intended and every precaution taken to ensure there is no possibility of damage.

The pear shown in the above link would not to hard to make at all. The pictures of the orginal ones are much more complex, but they don't appear to need to be.

I find it funny that I know of what you are seeking.  It just tickles me.

A spectulum works on the outside to part the lips and entrance of the vagina

the pear is an insertable that goes inside and expands it has a bolt through the middle and a cone on the top and bottom through with the bolt tightens contracting the two cones towards each other while forcing out the segments of the pear.

In a former life I managed an auto parts strore, and service station manager. A variance of the pear is sold in most autoparts stores and is called a tail pipe expander there is a smaller size for 1.5 -2 inch pipe, the pear pieces are made out of cast iron that is chromed. the older one had springs around it the newer ones have o rings to ensure equal pressure and that the pieces return for removal from yon pipe

there are a few different bands:lisle is one there are others that come to mind check out the brands and find one you like by its shape and size

You need to start with a Snap-On PH-300.  I believe you can special order these in chrome finish

Now while that will get you started, it is powered by an impact wrench.  Which means air.  Which means a bit of a "THUMPITY THUMPITY" action, and personally, I prefer the smooth, steady expansion provided by liquid, rather than air.  Don't you?  So you need to add a CG5560HY, which includes not only the expansion device:

I actually made one of these items recently after reading this post, interesting little project! LOL
It has 4 equal divisions and works fairly well. I  used Cherry to make it then varnished it.....I "quartered" the wood then turned it on a lathe so the parts match perfectly. Its more like a piece of Art then a toy though! LOL But fun to make! : )
The actual part that opens basically looks like a wooden dildo and is about 5" long, until it opens...then the end is approx. 3" in dia.
But like someone mentioned earlier it does and will PINCH as you attempt to close it.   I do however "think" that if you were to put 2 condoms over it it might lessen the pain of removal somewhat IF you were inclinded to even use such an item! : ) I do have photos if anyone is interested, IF I could ever put my email addy on here! LOL
