What is a good way to transfer files from my old, soon-to-be-dead laptop to my new, working laptop? Unfortunatly, neither of them have a zip drive or cd burner

Not sure how many or how big of files you are talking, you could email them to yourself zipped and then unzip them on the new computer. I'm sure there are more effective geekier ways but I don't know about them.

Depends....if you are running Windows XP on both, there is a way to connect the computers to each other and move them over. best regards, f Edited to add...its under the "File and Settings Transfer Wizard"

Given that it is two laptops are without any form of writable discs the only option would be to network them. You might be able to do that via the network ports(assuming they both have them) but you will need a specila network cable as a fairly cheap alternative, you can use a usb network bridge cable which you should eb able to pick up from any store (radioshack even) or ebay. You can copy them to a floppy or a flash memory stick, will probably take more than one, depending on how much you have.

If both laptops are equipped with a serial port then there is a program out there called Fast Move that all you have to do is connect both serial ports with a cable and you can move your files that way. Other than that, there are large flash drives you can buy that will hold quite a lot of information. The flash drives plug into your USB port and act just like another drive. Edited to fix a typo

Just put them back to back, copy and paste. It requires a special wire and a NIC in each, but it's fast and comprehensive.
