I noticed this profile and this one look strikingly similar. Yet, they are different locations and ages. It made me wonder how many profiles are legitimate and how many are smurfs or scams?

Well looks to me like the same woman in 2 pictures. Maybe she and her friend are running on a "more profiles+ more me" kind of thing.

There isn't (or at least there didn't use to be) any rule about having more than one profile unless it's purpose was deception or harassment. I don't see how those profiles fall into either category.

Well, my point was that there are two profiles with what appears to be the same person, yet the age and location is different. You can only be in one place at a time with an age that doesn't change. One of the pictures has two people in it, so maybe the profile refers to that other person - if not, there's obviously a problem.

I was just wondering what others thought and if there have been problems with deception in the past or even the majority of the time.

these two women seem pretty ligit to me. Two women with there own profiles. The 34 yr old has a pic of herself and the 31 yr old has a pic of both of them together. Are you fileing a complaint with these two? They are not smurfing at all.

As for having multiple profiles, just remember that there are many reasons for it. One being all a person caring about is sex or finding someone/anyone. Another being to check on your other to try an learn something or see if they're a cheater and such. Talking to someone while they think you are someone else can give new insights on judgement. Other ppl just think they can start new and more funny conversations on the message boards.

I myself don't have time for multiple profiles. It's tempting yet very pointless.

Just have to ask. What exactly is a smurf? I must be old.

I'm trying to figure out how deceptive profiles and tiny blue cartoon characters are connected, but I'm drawing a blank here. [:D]

Welcome to my old world then...hehe. Hey, are the smurfs still on? When I was growing up I absolutely adored that cartoon.

Isolde -> RE: Smurfing? (7/20/2005 3:14:20 PM)

I don't know whether the cartoon is still running or not. I believe that the fellow who did Gargamel's voice died in the last year or two though. And I did find this neat rumour:

quote:

A 3-D, CGI-animated Smurfs feature film will bow in theaters in 2008, Daily Variety reported Tuesday. The extravaganza from Paramount's Nickelodeon Movies will be the first in a planned trilogy, it said. According to Newsweek, the project has been trying to get off the ground since at least 2003.

I'm kinda suprised to see the term "smurfing" show up anywhere else hehe...there was once an online gaming service in which people played Warcraft 2, and we kinda came up with the term to describe some of us experts who would play under random names so that noone would recognize who they were playing with.

If there's an alternate origin of the slang use of "Smurf", I don't know of it. ;)

MadameDahlia -> RE: Smurfing? (7/21/2005 1:30:00 AM)

Maybe smurf refers to the way they were all very similar.

Sidenote: Did you know that female smurfs don't occur in nature? She was a creation. I won't go into geeky details - but she was actually a decoy to begin with.

Anyway... I've got this profile so I can display my interest... so I can show who and what I am... so I can jot down anything I think would be important to know if someone had the desire to form a relationship with me. I have another profile with another Domme which is only seeking casual play partners - I have two because while I may be seeking a particular type of submissive to form a relationship I may also want to simply play casually.
