I mostly say slave...but I say it with a great big fat grin. I often find that simply telling the truth with a laugh a wink and a smile is the best way. People think..."oh there she goes again with that wacky sense of humour". It works very well...and I don't even have to lie

Clever.  This is kind of how it is with me as well.  My mom and siblings know Him by His given name but I don't call Him that and try not to say it.  Sometimes I have to in conversation with them.  However, I usually just say "He does this or that."  They have no clue as to the M/s nature of our relationship but they do know how our dynamic basically works (sans some of the more extreme stuff).  They know I cater to Him and take great pleasure in serving and pleasing Him in nonsexual, everyday ways.  The other day, my mom and I were discussing how He had "gotten" me to do something that she had been nagging me about for awhile.  She said, "Boy.  What he says goes, huh?  I can see who's master of that house."  [:D]...if she ONLY knew....lol.  I just laughed and said, "that's for sure."  So, even though my family doesn't know anything about BDSM and all the terminology, they basically understand that He's king of this house and that I love it that way..............luci

Why he's Mr. Wonderful, of course!  [:D]

And it's cute, because that's actually how my Mom refers to him now.  Only she is so concerned because of my past, she keeps telling me, "Don't ever let a man tell you what to do, hija.  Don't ever let anyone control you."  I smile and say Okay Mom.  And then I tell her things like, "Ok I'm not going to drive across the country by myself after all, because he told me not to" and she says, "Oh thank God.  Please thank Mr. Wonderful for me."  And then I say, "Okay, I'm going to have a complete itinerary for you when I go on my East Coast excursion, complete with a list of every hotel I'm staying in (pre arranged, of course) and on what day, and maps so you know where I'll be.  Because Mr. Wonderful said you'd be worried and I should do that."

She's really liking Mr. Wonderful [;)]

I tell the people in my life that know i'm in to this kind of a lifestyle the truth, and the people that dont, I refer to him as my roomate.

SirCache -> RE: what do you say you are? (9/21/2007 4:48:47 PM)

My wife I refer to as my wife.  Other partners that we bring in are generally referred to as our mutual girlfriend.  With the circle of friends we keep, no one questions it, and our families are both aware that we date women in our relationship.

I don't generally describe my relationships in that way at all, d/s or otherwise. There are people I date, people I spend time with, and people I know. When I introduce them, I simply use their name. "This is Mary." And I dont' refer to them as "my whatever", I simply refer to them as "Mary".

A freind.

Pyrrsefanie -> RE: what do you say you are? (9/22/2007 2:07:39 PM)

My family knows him as my fiance.  Friends of mine know him as the same, unless they're also into the lifestyle, in which case I'm tend to be more open.

For the most part, though, I keep it on a don't-ask-don't-tell basis.

ElvesUK -> RE: what do you say you are? (9/22/2007 5:04:09 PM)

We tell them nothing, its none of their business, its the essence of having a private life. We live how we choose to live, if they ask questions we merely answer them without going into anything they have not asked about. We are also not lifestylers though, its just part of our life.

DCroommate -> RE: what do you say you are? (9/22/2007 5:08:47 PM)

We just use our names.. Griffin and Ann... i use "partner" sometimes.    My daughter knows about this stuff so don't have to hide it.. She's 25, not into the life but fully aware it.
