I live in a state where the "scene" is very small. There are a number of things I would like to learn to do and would like My slave to experience but that I feel that simply reading about on the internet doesn't give Me enough to go on. In a larger community there would be classes, events etc. but here there really is not. I am reasonably active in the community here.

I'm considering taking My slave to a more experienced woman (pro Domme) and paying her to teach Me, and to show him. Have any of you done this? If I could simply find a "mentor" for suspension or shibari or whipping or cbt or whatever, I would do this but having searched in My state for "friends" I don't find anyone. I don't have in mind a huge "scene" that he gets off on as much as a 2 hour long intensive lesson for Me with him as the subject/guinea pig. Is this simply a terrible idea or is this exactly what paying a professional is for? Even the number of pro's here are very limited though I have found a few who seem experienced and sensible. Do you have suggestions on questions to be asked to determine experience level etc.

It's a great idea. However, I'd seriously really look for something local to you. I'm the first to recommend someone to go see a Pro for just about anything...however NM has a great scene from what I've heard. There's no reason to not pull from the local area first and if you feel that you need more info then go on to Max Fisch to search for Pro local to you. Please remember to ask them if they are lifestyle outside of the Professional work and what groups they might eb part of or have worked with. This will give you some idea of where you might find others who might be able to help and another great way to tap into the community.

google "santa Fe BDSM" you will find quite a bit of local information. I would go through the local community to find a mentor before using a Pro, often (not always) Pros are the stereotype "fantasy" Domme.

I checked out the selection of pro dommes in New Mexico on maxfisch and it seems thin-Arizona has some good Dommes, LA has some premier ones. You will need to discern the educators from the "fantasy" types-pretty sure Gemini in LA is GREAT. I and I am sure many other pros LOVE couples, training and showing them all our erotic tricks.........you just need a little pre session communication. I have a prodomme friend that I know has done that. I think if you do not have other mentors in your area, or even if you do, if you find a good pro that knows Her stuff, you would find what you seek.

I know personally I want to do sounds, but until I find someone that knows, I wouldnt try it on anyone, so I know your predicament(well, a little bit of it, anyway. I am fortunate that I am old and have a "little experience" in other activities, and believe it or not, very quietly active scene here as far as the local BDSM group. I am in the process of honing my single tail skills with one that makes them for a living and demonstrates on his slave, and then I get to practice. I wish you luck.

I have a pro domme friend in Dallas who would be perfect for what you are describing. Dallas is 10 hour drive from SF. If you want to find out about her let me know.

I think that a decent pro would really enjoy that type of challange. Might pique her interest, be unique, etc. I say, if you can find someone, and make it clear what you want, it's worth a shot. It's only money, they print more every day!

I just want to say thank you to everyone for their responses and time. From the people who have sent Me links to the local scene to those that have mailed Me information about their Pro's or experiences it has been very helpful. I have contacted the head of PEP here and she is mailing Me brochures. BROCHURES.
