I know that you can't make some things with soymilk to replace regular milk, is pudding one of those things?

Sure, you can use soy milk to make pudding, but are you into the taste of soy or is there a reason you don't like regular milk? The reason I'm asking is because there is an incredible milk substitute made by Hood that can be used in place of milk. I can't stand the taste of soy in anything.

I'm severely lactose intolerant. I get horribly sick if I have anything with lactose in it (including things like bread, which sometimes is made with milk)

yes, substitutions can be made for pudding.
Your best bet is to start going to a Health Food store. They have many substitutions as well as Lactose Free milks.
As for your Lactose Intolerance, you can see about replacement therapies and the Lactaid pills. I've known ppl to get back there lactose enzymes with certain pill replacement therapies and strong vitamins at health food stores.

Hope it works out for you,

I have learned the hard way that soy milk cannot replace dairy milk in pudding. It can, however, make tasty oatmeal.

Really? Wow...I had no trouble with it back when I was experimenting (other than the soy taste...lol). Did you use the pudding you have to cook or the instant? Wonder if that makes a difference.

The Hood product I mentioned is not lactose free, but have you tried Lactaid? I think they also have pills that keep you from having a bad reaction.

When I was in the military I was lactose intolerant. Among other little death things it gave me.
I sucked on acidopholus tablets and liquids. Drank Lactaid...that stuff is just nasty.

Soy milk wasn't invented back then

After about 10 year's I decided I needed milk in order to like my life once more...hehe.
So started drinking it. No more intolerance. Don't really know why. So hopefully you will grow out of it in time.

I have, but I am one of those strange little birds that actually likes soymilk. I drink it by itself, put it on my cereal, put it in tuna noodle stuff, dunk cookies in it, put it in my tea, and just about everything else that you use cow milk for.

I have tried every product out there, but nothing works so far. I have developed a taste for non-dairy things and it doesn't really bother me (really).

I just felt like some pudding, but haven't made it in years and wasn't sure if it made a difference

Edited to say: Whoa, sub4hire, you got a new picture! I like it! Here I am thinking that you are someone new........[:D]

Thanks Siamsa and Storms. My old pic was taken where my brother died when I was ten. It was my first visit ever to the place. So, the photo meant something to me.

Anyway, the new pic is the way I look when I'm trying to look normal and not sweat...hehe.

I think you could pick me out on the street from the new one. It is how I usually look.

Soy Milk can be used for lots of things and pudding is one of them. it really does depend on how much you like the taste of soy milk though. i use the unsweetened organic kind. you coluld also try using Vanilla flavored Rice Milk for puddings too. Almond milk is a little thicker but good too. i would suggest getting a few different types and trying them out. The plain unsweetened soy milk is good for alot of stuff too like making potatoe soups or cream of mushroom soups...mmmmm. i use it also to make my cakes and they come out great.

It was instant pudding. Perhaps I did it incorrectly if you guys have been successful. I also love soymilk. I think it tastes way better than dairy. I refuse to drink non-soy lattes anymore.
