missturbation -> Twue masochism !! (9/23/2007 4:32:16 PM)

A few weeks ago i bought Stephen Kings 'It' on dvd. I adore Stephen King books and films but none more so that 'It'. However my liking of this film is slightly freaky as i am absolutely terrified of clowns!!

Switched tv channels tonight, ya know randomly flicking like you do and came across the film 'Arachnaphobia'. It's still on now as it happens. My skin is crawling, i feel sick and i just know that there is one of the spiders in my house. You all know how i feel about spiders lol [:'(]

Anyway i have decided that only a twue masochist would put themselves through this kind of uncomfortableness and not switch over the tv!!

Anyone else do this kind of thing?

Isn't it funny how we do torture ourselves like that! My biggest phobia is bees and wasps and I go through the same thing when watching movies about killer bees, the B horror movie types!

missturbation -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/23/2007 4:45:44 PM)

Yay the spiders are all dead !!

Yeah bear, i think something is very wrong with me [:o]

beargonewild -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/23/2007 4:50:17 PM)

Nah....we just have a warpped desire to test our phobias. I do it quite often, I'll get close to a bee on a flower  yet my stomach is ready to revolt and on the verge of shear panic! You should see me react when one bizzes around me, I'll flail my arms around and run. Kinda funny in a sick way seeing me run away from an insect which is only a half inch long....sheesh.

I see the terms masochist and switch, and dang it...neither apply to me.

Cheers.

i do this all the time.. i hate spiders yet i watch spider movies  the only thing i won't watch is anything with freddy kruger in it.. thanks to my brother i have a paralyzing fear of the man...

nyrisa -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/23/2007 9:55:28 PM)

No, I don't exercise my masochism in movie choices. I will, however, sit through annoying TV shows and not bother to change the channel, if I am busy with something else. Does this count?

scifi1133 -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/23/2007 10:38:23 PM)

lol yes that counts

slavegirljoy -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/23/2007 10:59:14 PM)

i hate horror movies.  i also am creeped-out by clowns.  my Master loves horror movies and He always makes me watch them with Him.  In fact, He enjoys watching me suffer through the movie more thant He enjoys the movie, itself.  He also makes me go up to any clown that happens to be at a festival or carnival we are at and talk to him.  He loves to see how much i dread doing that and how uncomfortable i am.

It does turn me on quite a bit, knowing that my Master is making me do things that i don't like.  i am a masochist, too.  But, these are things i would never do, if He didn't make me.

He made me watch "Saw I" and "Saw II", back-to-back, one night and He wouldn't let me cover my eyes.  One of the scariest movies He has made me watch was a little film called "Open Season" and it was so frightening, i jumped 3 feet in the air, from the floor to the couch backwards and screamed so loud, the neighbors came to see if everything was alright.

Oh yes!!!!  Did Arachnophobia in the theatre......OMG!  But I'm such a snot....the part where he's sneaking up on the spider on the wall in his bedroom to swat it with a rolled up magazine, i hollered "LOOK OUT!" right before he did it...got EVERYBODY in the place!!!!  My roommate was in a wheelchair, we were at the top of the seating, she jumped hard enough to knock the brake loose on the WC, started rolling down the aisle......OMG!!!!!  I laughed so hard I almost wet myself!

BUT I ABSOLUTELY HATE SPIDERS!!!!!!!  I had the heebie jeebies for a week after I saw it......even now, my skin crawls.  But the B grade movies are still the best!  The tarantulas, spiders, wasps.....E-W-W-W-W-W-W-W-W!  Don't have the fear of clowns....don't  understand it, but hey, I'm terrified of needles, so I don't make fun of anyone's phobias.

BTW...LOVE Steven King!!!!  Wore out two different copies of "The Stand"..the LOOOOONG version.....have read everything of his at least 3 times.  I love a good scare!

GhitaAmati -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/24/2007 2:04:20 PM)

My Sir is absolutly terrified of clowns too...which I think is a rather irrational fear but what the hey.....for a man who has served seven tours of combat duty, spent 24 years in the military, been in over 35 countries, lived through and handled some pretty rough shit....to be afraid of a flippin birthday clown...well...its just silly.

Anyway, I think I must have a slightly sadistic side, because I would flat out LOVE to be able to force him to watch IT...ok, Id probably get beat for it..but that would be part of the fun.....

missturbation -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/24/2007 2:04:59 PM)

I first saw it in the theatre too. I had me feet up on the chair in front and was frozen to the spot.

missturbation -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/24/2007 2:06:23 PM)

I really cant explain the clown thing at all. They are just weird looking and so not funny.

nyrisa -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/25/2007 5:59:54 AM)

After reading the book, "IT", I can't stand the thought of balloons floating around in my house. If my kids got those mylar birthday balloons, I'd shut the balloons up in their rooms, just to make sure there was no chance the bastards might come floating down the hallway. *shiver* (the balloons, not the kids. *L*)

missturbation -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/25/2007 6:03:46 AM)

Floating kids would be pretty freaky too [:D]

desertdancer -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/25/2007 6:14:04 AM)

Miss, my fears are spiders and clowns too, and I get this morbid fasination when either of those things are on tv..it's like I MUST see them, I CAN NOT change the channel even if I'm getting chills and feel the need to hurl 'cause I'm so scared.   What kinda freak am I!?

missturbation -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/25/2007 6:57:36 AM)

The same kind as me [:D]

Hmm just thought maybe that does not make you feel better lol.

solitudesmiles -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/25/2007 8:55:21 AM)

mine are bees and fog... my dad did that one lol

softness -> RE: Twue masochism !! (9/25/2007 1:56:03 PM)

i made myself watch the same damn film .. it got to the point where my sister called me (we live on opposite ends of the country) because we were both watching it and were both too scared to turn the lights off or turn over

we were daring eachother to turn over but we just couldn't do it ... we were glued to the screen ... was ridiculous

just after we hung up we both had text messages from our other sister ... who had been going out of her mind because she couldn't get through to either of us and had even tried to call my brother who just hung up after calling her"a silly tart" .. it was midnight afterall ... she had gotten up to give the baby a night feed and been sucked into the audiovisual self harming as well

worst bit is .. we all have partners who were right there with us and either forcing us to watch it ... or being totally unsupportive about the freaking massive man eating spiders under the bed ... just proves that blood is thicker than water and sisters are going to have to keep doing it for themselves
