This seems pretty blatant to me, especially the way the cop acts until he notices the camera. It seems like every week another cop is caught in the act, whether it is because more cameras or they are becoming more out of control, I don't know.

My guess is its because there are more cameras. I have to wonder why we dont get posts showing cops getting beaten or shot, while trying to protect the rest of us. I know you get a few bad apples but most officers do a difficult and dangerous job. Sometimes we tend to overlook that and focus on the negative side of things too much.

Looks to me like the cop and other councilman were brothers or maybe son /father.

Honestly..... I think we need a whole lot less cops{Judges, attorneys and court staff} and whole lot more citizens of the mindset similar to that of the character Jody Foster plays in the '' The Brave One. ''

A prime example of the decreasing intelligence in our society.  Not one person in this video was in the right.  From the old man, to the cop, to the woman with the camera.

That's true, the only reason I focus on the cop is because he is the only one vested with authority over the others. I don't worry about a powerless idiot(several in the video), I worry about the empowered idiot with a gun.

Actually, this is not new.  This is how law enforcement acted years ago, before there were laws against it.  I'm certainly not condoning the guy in the video's behavior, but neither am I going to use it as a measuring stick for law enforcement in general.  I know too many peace officers and law enforcement officials who do their jobs correctly and well to toss out gross generalizations about them all.

Small town politics can be shockingly vicious. Feelings often run high in meetings like that.
I watched the tape twice and I saw the cop as the instigator, he pushed the man once they were through the doorway.
It looked/sounded  like there was an ongoing problem with the council members.

Thank you i cant condone this sort of action but it does seem to become a general hate against all officers when yet another video surfaces. Make the job alot harder.

I didn't toss any gross generalizations out. My view is this particular cop, should be permanently and irrevocably removed from being a cop and charges filed against him for assualt. I didn't mention the other cops in the video as being bad, they seemed to be acting sanely. But any cop that acts the way the one hitting the guy, are nothing more than criminals in my view. That is the message, and hopefully more and more and more of these videos get posted online, and each of the officers in such videos will be removed from service, then we'll have a better police force, one I actually don't ponder about possibly being a thug.

Not to discredit your post at all. But any authority left unchecked becomes abusive. I think history has proved that. If someone decides to become a politician, a cop, a priest or even a day care provider, you must be scrutinized to prevent this abuse. But you are right. For every cop that does a bad thing there are 10,000 doing good. A fact overlooked too often.
