Status: offline 		any advise please.  i have very sensitive skin and can't shave, get red bumps... tried creams... but still red bumps... any suggestions?

Status: offline 		The only way i have found that i don't get red bumps, a rash or ingrown hairs is to wax.....and it looks MUCH nicer too.

Here are some tips from my own experiences:
1. Take a hot shower or bath first.  It opens your pores.
2. NEVER use soap.  I use shaving gel with aloe or marked 'sensitive skin'. They come in a wide array of scents now.
3. Use a very sharp razor.  For shaving my girly bits, I never use a blade more than twice.
4. I prefer 2- or 3-blade disposable razors.
5. If you haven't shaved in a while and the hair is longer, try to trim first.
6. Use your other hand to pull the skin taut.

Status: offline 		I've had great success with something called "Coochie Cream."  Silly name, but it seriously works... it's kind of pricey, though, so I'd say if you do get it (a lot of sex shops sell it, I've noticed), use it ONLY for the most sensitive bits.

Also, hemp seed oil-based lotion is amazing for soothing razor burn and red bumps and the like.  Apparently hemp has restorative properties for skin...?  It's never let me down!

Status: offline 		I swear by laser hair removal it is expensive but once gone, its gone, forever. I use a company called ideal image and they will do all but the head.

i gave up on shaving and i just go and get it waxed.  However i make sure they don't use the wax with paper (i forget what it's called) but they just put the wax on the hair and then pull.  Much nicer and doesn't hurt too bad but then again...i like it when they do that. ;-)

Status: offline 		I have the same problem.  Either wax (best but a bit expensive) or shave with a special cream made for this.  There's lots of them out there now - even in Walmart.  I would NOT recommend depilatories.  They can burn the skin and usually don't work very well.  Afterword, always dab on some witch hazel.  If you shave, don't go over the same areas more than once or twice.  Works pretty well for me.

Status: offline 		After reading about someone getting torn appart by an epilator, and then hearing some really good news about them I decided to buy one and it's working really well for me.  I could never get a really smooth shave and still got really bad razor burn.  With the epilator, skin gets red with slight bumps that last maybe an hour and go away.  It's pretty painful though, but I hear it gets better with multiple uses.

For those of us who can't afford professional hair removal, this looks like the best solution, and I'm going to stick with it, too.  A couple of months ago, I tried Veet.  I ended up literally screaming with pain.  It was pure torture.  I honestly thought I had done permanent damage to myself.  It was further torture trying to get the damn stuff off.  NEVER again!!!  Skintimate and a fresh blade from then on.

Status: offline 		Two things helped me; ever noticed how men shave their face every day and it looks great? Shaving exfoliates the skin- the longer you do it the less bad the rash becomes. But until then, the Sally Hansen people make a bikini/ Brazilian rash soothing pad that helps amazingly. It has a little bit of salicylic acid, an exfolient, along with assorted soothing plant things.
I'm finding that the disposable razor every or every other day is the way to go- keeps that exfoliation effect up and longer hair is a huge problem, messes up the razor blades and you can't get a decent shave.

Status: offline 		Try laser hair removal, you will have to shave a little bit and just accept the red bumps.  Its a little more costly but a lot easier on sensitive skin and tends to have longer lasting results than waxing.  Look into do some research, talk to some aestheticans they might have some solutions for you.  Another way to avoid the bumps shave in the direction of the hair instead of opposite.  Smooth even strokes and avoid going over it again and again.

I do keep it trimmed around the eyes though, just for driving ya know.
