I heard a quote on NPR yesterday…about Text Messaging. Someone who’s written a book on the subject regarding how it’s ruined romance said “Messaging is for sharing information not emotion” I think what happens here is that people read stuff and add emotion that may or may not have been present. It is very easy to quickly read something and comment…only to find later you’d read it wrong. I’ve had egg on my face more than once! (Lordy, I wish people would learn to use punctuation!) Generally speaking, I believe I’m fairly up-beat; though recently let someone trying to rescue someone else under my skin. For folks who have been visiting these boards awhile, there are a few who post utter crap and it often rankles others. We should let it slide? Why? You should see the debates regarding politics and waring; there are no holds barred, there. Why would we put on kid gloves for the whiners who are adult enough to belong here, too? I agree with Gwynvyd, and believe sometimes a quick retort (or several) just might cause a whiner to change their outlook or pull themselves up …or realize their constant whining might constitute the need for professional help. On the other hand…there are also some who play The Fool….in one form or another. Historically, The Fool is very bright, political, challenging, educational and thought provoking. Some Fools are wonderful…and there are several here I love to read. Still…we poke ‘em. LOL, and they poke us. Actually, I find it entertaining to read a sarcastic retort, full of innuendo or double entendre; or even one so scathing as to nearly burn…but using civil, adult language (and proper spelling). LOL Isn’t that the nature of the beast, HERE? Poke, poke Beverly
