I'm just wondering, how common is it to get threatening/degrading/otherwise just plain cruel and offensive emails through this site?  I'm not talking about the "On your knees!" phenomenon but more along the lines of "get the f*ck out of here you stupid bitch" messages, completely unsolicited.

Feeling a bit shaken up because I just got spammed with a bunch of them from someone I've never spoken to before or even seen around... I reported the messages already, but I'm wondering if this is something that happens a lot?

it runs in streaks, don't even worry about it, report, block, delete.

Don't get freaked about it.  Just figure it's from some a**hole and block him.

I get many of them in different forms or another, but one did worry me a bit.  I mean I wasn't afraid, but I wondered who else this guy was emailing.  He wanted to be locked for a year at least, because he was afraid he was going to harm others.  Of course blocking him did no good because from what he said, each email was sent from a different account.  There was no way to respond to him so his kink was upsetting people with what he said.  Of course I reported it for what that is worth.

Block the guy and if he finds you again somehow, then consider it a real problem and take what action you must.  Hopefully it won't be a problem after you block and he will move on to bother other people and sooner or later he will go away or something will be done to stop him.  It's the net, people can get away with all sorts of things, but I am sure this site is doing all they can to keep things going smoothly.  Don't worry, just go out and have fun!

!!!!!!!  I think my mother got that email on her account and was telling me about it.  He was offering some exorbitant amount of money per year to keep him locked up, right?

He's been blocked, mail's been deleted, messages reported... I'm just hoping this is an isolated incident and that I haven't gotten my first stalker.

Very common and in fact I think I have gotten many in generic form that there are people on the other side who only do that.

Some people in life and maybe a higher percentage in cyber need attention and will do anything to get a reaction. Positive might be preferred but negative will work as well.

Ignore and do not worry about it.

It's not that uncommon. I got another love note this morning. I just blame it on our resident troll, block and move on.

I tried to respond but it wouldn't let me.  That was the guy that emailed me.  Just a guy trying to get a response.  I emailed you.

Sheesh, some people have all the fun!
Just tell Moderator 11 and she'll beat the crap out of him.
But remember one thing, she "only goes to 11."

Although it can be done, it's REALLY hard to stalk via the internet.  Seriously.  Unless you're going to give the guy your address and phone number, just delete the damn posts.  He will grow tired of the game and bother someone else.  He's just looking for attention.

If you react this much to an email from a stranger, how do you handle serious issues?

You make it sound like I'm contemplating suicide over it.  It just shook me up a little, is all, I'm not used to getting weird emails from random people.

Stick around long enough and it will seem like second nature and you won't even bat an eyelash

LOL... is it fucked up if I say "that's kind of what I'm hoping for?"

I can see where some people might think I'm overreacting, but this is really my first foray into the BDSM community, and the first time I've ever had a profile on a kink site, so... I'm still kind of a noob about stuff, still easily shocked by people's actions.  If it weren't for a couple of people I already know being on here with me I probably never would have had the courage to sign up!

Actually, I think that should be "random emails from weird people".  But maybe that's my preference.

Think of it as the 21st C. equivalent of the obscene phone call.  Random spew in an attempt to elicit a response...and in your case, Pyyrse, it worked.

Here's a thought -- what if nasty vulgar emails are "his" kink?   Then aren't we all being politically incorrect (in the CM mode) in trashing this behavior?  Where's the same tolerance that people clamor for when someone bashes ProDommes, Poly, gun play or mayonnaise play?  Isn't it "that's not MY kink, but its ok if its yours, Mr. Spammer, so spam away!"

hmmmmm....

"It's the same thing," he said.
