I have my husbands permission to do WIITWD. I rationalize nothing....I have no need to.

Oh I didn't think it was a question of rationalization more than a kind of internal conflict. I'm not christian or anything else so I really am curious if there is a kind of conflict. I wasn't digging at anyone, it is a sincere interest.

Most people who are critical of religion never truely understand it. Never picked up a bible.  Let alone spent a long time among people who go to church. there is something more then just words in a book written many years ago. you can feel it everytime you walking in a empty church. Something grand  hard to put it into words but there is something more out there

I guess I am in that minority, because I am highly critical of religion, but still give a thumbs up to individual spirituality and the search for one's own spiritual life.

Mainly, I have issues with organized religion, literalism, narrowmindness, dogmatic black and white doctrine, and people who insist on saying "This is the way it is".

Personally, as I get older and older, I get less annoyed by people who have such a narrow minded view of what "God" is and insist on presenting it as the "Truth" as opposed to their own individual concept of God, but will I ever stop argueing with them? Probably not.

When people bring their own personal religous crisis to these boards and people insist on saying "Well, this is who God is and this is what he wants", will I ever stop playing Devil's Advocate? Probably not.

I guess its mostly just personal annoyance. Even the Bible, the book that people cling to for infalliable truth, is a collection of different books written over the course of centuries, the authors being various groups telling the story of their own relationship with their own God. God is a dynamic and changing entity if you look at the book as a whole.

So why these discussions cant appear without people pompously declaring "I have the answers" is beyond me. This one being the exception and quite a breathe of fresh air.

But you are right...there is something quite powerful about people who have a spiritual connection with their own individual concept of God and have found their spiritual life.

The importance of an individual's relationship with their own individual God cant be undermined. Just the people who insist on telling everyone what God is.

My grandfather was a Pentacostl preacher, most of my mother's family is very religious. I lived in the Bible Belt for years growing up, going to a school where like 98% of the kids were Christian and most of them went to Church regularly. I spent almost 2 years in my younger days(lol) as a practicing Muslim. I'd say I have quite a bit of first hand experience with organized religion.

And I'm highly critical of it. Now, spirituality is a totally different thing.

When it comes to religion, it is all such a vast area of bullshit....Very few are capable of thinking outside of the box...They become brain washed to whatever affiliation they were raised within...Hence, Muslims follow Muslim doctrines etc....

Many folks not wanting to totally abandon an organized religion, will seek out some "cooler" version "God7.0"...and do some lame switch to Buddhism, become a Wiccan or invest their time in the wonderful fun filled world of "Druidism."

Then there are others who question religious philosophies ....Who have taken the time to understand and learn about "the message" but have dismissed it for one reason or another......

It actually is in total contrast to the above statement by LATEXBABY....In fact I would say that the majority of people that I know who are "gung ho" religious never "truely" understood anything outside their own belief system and are the first to dismiss any information that puts their faith to the test.  These are the types that never looked for information outside of their bible...And actually believe that a church is more than bricks and mortar.  They are the brainwashed.

How do unmarried Christian BDSM partners get around not having sex outside of marriage or do unmarried Christian lifestylers only engage in non-sexual play all the time?

The answer in reality is that many devout Christians are incredible hypocrites.  That is how they justify their own actions while outwardly condemning others.

Anyway as someone in my situation...i do not see my sex life as a part of my occuppation.  It is no one's business that i like to be tied up in bed...
i am a sweet, nurturing, loving, religious, devoted person outside the bedroom but once "alone" (cause W/we all know God there's there but really...come on) i feel so free to be who God designed me to be.  If that's to be a person that's holy in the light and a whore at night...then God bless everyO/one.

First off, if you believe...Then you are never "alone"and your actions are always under scrutiny....Secondly, if you stay out here long enough you will realize their are a tremendous amount of posters who's lives have been dramatically altered...If this constitutes "God's design"...Then He's/She/It/Cosmic Dust Cloud... has got one Hell of a fucked up sense of humor....Lastly I don't think we all believe that there is a God....I'm positive my interpretation of God differs dramatically from your own.

I tend to shy away from the "gung ho" religious types....Unless she actually is a gung "ho."  They usually strike me as being rather closed minded folks...Though it should not be a constraint as far as them participating in wiitwd.....But it definitely is a constraint when it comes down to wiitid.

Peace out, you God fearing fucks.

My religion is one that not only accepts the pleasures of life, but rejoices in them. I've never thought I was wrong for having kinks, and in all honesty BDSM is another factor of worship to me. To be served or to serve others in many ways is one and the same with serving God as we know it. To me existence is God, and by doing certain things I can enrich my relationship with God and those apart from me that are a part of God. *shrugs*

Eating, sleeping, exercising, sex, love, pain, joy, and every other facet of life is an act of God that channels through me, and each activity reminds me of being a part of the greater picture.

Believe it or not, I met my Sir through a religious organization! We were friends for a couple of years before conversation drifted to his kink, and my unexplored kink...and it wasn't long before our D/s relationship (re)developed (we'd dated for a few weeks back when we first met) into a vanilla relationship as well. One of our best friends (also a part of the same group we met through) shares the kink...and we're slowly working on introducing his girlfriend to the lifestyle.

Yes, religious people can be just as kinky as the rest of the world. My Sir has never overstepped my personal vow of chastity, and now that I think about it, it /is/ rather amusing that I wake up on most Sunday mornings, and wait to be untied. :-) The rope marks usually fade by the time I make it to church, and a couple of little church ladies commented on how pretty my "necklace" was.

Really, the only "conflict" I run into is that I usually can't talk about my lifestyle with a lot of my religious friends...given how close-minded a lot of Christians can be, sometimes it's best not to open the proverbial "can of worms", and just keep my personal life personal.

wow...nice to know i'm a hypocrite if I'm a Christian and i don't fear God anymore...i'm Methodist, not Catholic
...well, if ya gonna read the Bible and depending upon who teaches ya (as i have learned) ya will see that the Bible is not to be taken literal...first we must look at the historical audience and then see if it is applicable to today's audience.
i can't stand people who take the Bible literally...my ex-roommate did that, got on my nerves!!!!
Anyway, technically a Christian is one who believes Jesus is the Messiah.  Not all Chrisitans stand firm behind the Bible...since it's the story of God to an older audience.
i don't remember much of last night but didn't i say God is watching...and i'm never alone...God does have a GREAT sense of humor because God made me, lol.
To each their own faith...worship...whatever.  i believe what i believe because what's been revealed to me.  i am deeply honored and scared out of my mind to know that revelation...but i'm not gonna condemn or whine or Bible-beat because someone isn't a Christian.  Hell, Jesus died as a Jew...He never converted to Christianity.  Can't we all just get along?
The cause of so many wars is that those who know there is a God can't understand that there are many ways to worship God and therefore think that one way is better and so we fight...kinda dumb, but it's been going on for centuries including in the Bible :-)  hope everyone is having a great weekend!
