winterlight -> Flower is gone...anybody watch Meerkat Manor (9/28/2007 10:48:48 PM)

I started watching it quite a few months ago. Such interesting animals. Flower is the female Dominant of her group "The Whiskers". I was pretty shocked to find out tonight that she has died.

Anybody watch the show? What did you think of it?

I love the show. It is on at an awkward time for me though I only see it occasionally.

The thing to keep in mind is that despite all the cameras the film makers supposedly do nothing to help or hinder the animals so some will die and it is entirely possible an entire colony could get wiped out.

I only watch it for the babies - supercute!

The bit where the baby was dawdling behind, with the hawk overhead, was awful!

Yes, Flower is gone, but she saved the babies. She did what any mother would do. i'll miis her, just like when Shakespear died.

This was just on tv while I was doing something else....Flower was killed by a cobra while defending the babies.

I've never even watched this show, though I've seen it advertised many times....and I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out.  This is why I can't watch nature shows, lol.

It looks like a wonderful show, and they gave her a really nice tribute at the end.

Yes, Flower is gone. My niece watches religiously and she cried for almost an hour after that episode L So sad; yet such is the way of life.

i watch it too.....hooked my grown ums on the show. i'm surprised at how many people enjoy Meerkat Manor, and wonder if the producers realize how much of an audience the show has.  so sad about flower.[:(]

Yes, it seems like they've had a rough stretch for awhile.

My female um was so excited and happy last week when the two groups got back together.  Then lo and behold this week another tragedy.  I really hope the group can hold it together without Flower.

I am sorry i shouldn't have put in here that she died. :(

nyrisa -> RE: Flower is gone...anybody watch Meerkat Manor (9/29/2007 1:49:42 PM)

My son and I watch the show, and discuss it like most people discuss soap operas. He had stepped outside to do something, when the part where FLower died happened, and he was stunned when I told him.

velvetears -> RE: Flower is gone...anybody watch Meerkat Manor (9/29/2007 3:14:55 PM)

i watched it a few times but when the babies were killed (in the hole by a rival group) it upset me....  knowing its real and how they always fight for territory i just know i will get attached and upset lol.... so i avoid it now.

I forgot to mention there will be a movie coming out in 2008 according to their site. Flower: Queen of the Meerkats

I think Meerkat Manor is great for children.  It teaches them the value of life and that death will happen.

Outside of my window I have my own little "Meerkat Manor"  Only they aren't really meerkat's they are mere rats....Right now it seems as if they are having a little battle over the dumpster behind the Taco Bell...My favorite, Jasper, got run over by a Tribune truck....It was so sad.   I can hardly look out my window anymore....I think the city is trying to  poison Cleopatra....It is almost too much for one man to bear.
